That’s just nonsense. If I fled every time gankers were in local…I’d never get anything done. I’d never visit Dodixie or Uedama, which I actually do all the time, as there’s gankers there 24/7. I’d never mine, as there’s always gankers passing through. Local is fine for general awareness…but I’m sure as hell NOT going to jump every time anyone with bad standing enters the system. The real situational awareness comes from regular experience of systems, and using d-scan…rather than just jumping to attention every time anything red appears.

This is how I know you don’t PvP at all.

I didn’t say head out of system but you’ll want to safe up as you assess if they are passing thru or staying to hunt.

Again, it clearly shows you don’t PvP at all.

Yes, dscan is needed and useful. Local is the largest advantage you have. It literally lets you gather metadata on whose in there with you, and combined with d-scan it is formidable.

LOL where do you mine? Why would you mine where gankers go? There are so many systems and pipes you can mine in, that avoid Uedama, that gankers never go to ROFL.

Pray CCP never listens to be and tries blackout for everywhere. I’ll be fine.

But you will quickly understand how powerful local is once you lose it. I suggest going to Pochpoch or WH.

Please educate yourself. If you’re truly a nub, then you’re out here getting people killed by giving terrible advice.

Keep trynna use that corax to AGG LOL.

This would vastly improve the game.

Oh I agree. Cilla would most likely quit once she found out how much she was actually depending on local without knowing it ROFL.

I don’t think Cilly has ever actually begun playing EvE.

She’s just stuck in the theorycraft limbo to nowhere.

I’ve hunted her off and on. Never seen her in game or undocked yet.

Just logging on an alt, to say thanks to @Gix_Firebrand and @Aiko_Danuja and a few others, i may bring some joy to this characters life by becoming a ganker

Congrats!

This, right here.

Eve is very much a game of intelligence gathering, and using that information to your advantage.

But I will say this, black out was amazing. I hope CCP brings it back. Really adds to the element of danger and paranoia.

I am late to the party but since it’s still an active thread.

As a new player I’ve learned that player interactions, even ganking, drives game content creation and economic activity. Perhaps other MMOs could learn from what EVE does.

Thanks for taking the time to write this, as it contains valuable tips on how to balance the wallet with ship fitting. Ships are tools after all and it’s better to lose a cheap hammer you bought at Canadian Tire than one made of gold while building a home.

Actually I was just reading a blog, with good advice to 'take your time in Eve…as the universe isn’t going anywhere '. And as Ax’l says above…Eve is very much a case of gathering intelligence, etc.

Eve is a game where things take time. My AG account has already gone from having just a 20 DPS Condor to having 30 ships…most with DPS over 300 and some with 500. Skills are coming through thick and fast now and ships DPS and EHP increasing rapidly.

I fully intend for those ships to be used. I wouldn’t have bought a whole bunch of clone tags if it was all just hot air. But I’m not going to jump the gun…that would be foolish.

Lol…I spend maybe 3 or 4 hours a day in game. Feel free to hunt Cilla…you know where corp HQ is ( Oipo ). I sometimes mine there. I also have a Gnosis ( Absolute Order specified fitting ) and Vexor there. I also travel all over the place and was in Uedama last weekend watching the ganking.

But the main reason you can’t find me is I spend far more time in another character, who has way overtaken Cilla in skill points despite being created 2 months later. Cilla’s skills queue is a long mess of mining and combat stuff…whilst the other character is skilling solely for combat.

And I have a third character who actually lives in Uedama…and I’m intending to use to sell weapons and ammo there.

I have actually seen quite a few forum members in my travels. Seen Aiko and Dracvlad in various systems, and a number of other players.

That’s a nice area. Did some shenanigans in that conduit of systems. I do miss it.

It is…apart from the dreadful over-brightness due to the galactic gas clouds…which makes Overview hard to read. I’ve never come across that in Gallente space…yet.

I donno, Gallente space is so, dull, drab and depressing with all those dark vomit green sky-boxes.

What I think EvE needs:

In the Neo-Com, a button that links to the players credit card or other financial account, that, when pressed, charges the card 5-10 USD and grants that player total immunity from all attacks (in high sec only, because balance and carebears) for 4 uninterrupted hours.

And if they are attacked, it nullifies all incomming damage and allows CONCORD to do their thing.

Who said pay2win isn’t a good idea?
