Hypothesis question: Imagine one day there are a wormhole, similar to EVE gate appear in New Eden. All empire go through it and explore it. One day, Minmatar found out if in those worlds are full with slavery.
The question is: Is Minmatar are going gung-ho to liberate every single slave there or they just, “No Minmatar, not my problem.” ?
Note: Both slave and slavers are pure stranger. no Amarrian involved in any circumstance.
as a general rule, it trends toward Liberation Raids will ‘liberate’ anyone they can get their hands on, but if they’ve got too many people and not enough seats, or if its a choice between a majority minmatar slave camp or a non-majority one? Matari takes priority.
This exists in degrees of course, some liberators will take whatever they can get, while others will shoot non-matari slaves just to make more room for more matari instead of just leaving them behind, or will just leave the non-minmatar behind.
The answer will always be dependent on ‘what is the disposition of the specific Liberation Raid Group and what’s their timeline to work with and how much room they have’.
There’s also the state sanctioned but we don’t talk about it deathslave camps that the Republic funds and keeps for ethnically amarr individuals that are ‘identified as related to slaving’ even if they are not actually involved in slave trade. officially not a thing, but in lore the money is often coming from the Republic to keep them operating.
And then… there’s the Angel Cartel, which is made up of mostly ethnic matari.
Very well put above. I would add that some Minmatar certainly are against slavery of all peoples, but OTOH, a very common battlecry is “we come for our people.” So in the hypothetical scenario in the OP, I would like to say that yes, the Republic would make an effort to liberate the slaves, but also would likely try to dump them to the Federation to take care of, because they’re not Minmatar.
Minmatari often engage in slavery themselves, so they are not at all opposed to it. The tribes are nothing more than large slave holding guilds, which actually enjoyed more freedom under Amarrrian guidance. Of course, they are such a loathsome people that they were set ‘free’ to enjoy their own miserable squalor, as they are simply not suitable for any productive tasks.
