If you save up 100 Bazillion Gazillion Tetrazazillion ISK… it would cost you 3 Billion ISK to PLEX right now.

And if you don’t need to PLEX immediately, saving up and buying in bulk when CCP has PLEX and Omega sales can drastically bring your cost down.
Since you wrote “bookmark for future reference” I feel it’s fair to note the following:
First statement about account - it’s how much it costs to plex 1 character not an account. Plexing the account annually the cheapest way, would have been 4100 plex in 2024 through NES
If not farming for subscription - The best/cheapest way in my opinion (if able and/or willing to pay of course) also supporting the development of Eve, would be to buy the largest 30% plex deal in the Eve Store or an official 3. party store for even more discount and converting it in NES for the 50% off Omega + MCT bundle, giving you an account with 3 omega character slots open for 4 years + spare change ingame. It would equal to an expense of approx 3,33$ monthly per character - which is dirt cheap if you ask me.
Second statement about skill farms is incorrect - Some might be operating at a loss, but if you did it the cheapest way, which you would want to, you still profit until plex reaches approx 7.8m if injector prices keep somewhat stagnant. All while keeping your main training, only extracting from 2 out of 3 characters per account

Toss a few dollars a week into your EVE piggy bank and/or buy a few PLEX when the price dips. Then buy the 2 for 1 extractors when the sales come up in the NES and EVE store.
Even better for farmers bottom line.

No need If you made the initial investment to setup farm correctly and injectors dont plummet. but yes the 2 for 1 deal is essential so lets hope it comes back 
Sure, although PLEX’ing multiple characters for a single account is a bit more involved - since you can’t multibox and skill farms aren’t profitable outside of buying PLEX/extractors in bulk ($).
True, but 3 characters for 4100 vs 1 for 3600 is a very sweet deal nevertheless 
The MCT discounts and ability to farm 2 or even 3 characters on the same account provides a lot of income per account if set up right and done long term. Having 3 skill farms reduces the cost per account by significant enough means. I worked it out a long time ago and though the numbers arent valid anymore, times change of course, it made the account dirt cheap. Or you could simply farm your isk through it and a trio of passive things like manu, R&D or PI and fund a pvp-centric account with ships and mods quite easily.
Again too much work and numbers for some, enjoyment for others. But CCP changes things and what goes up… must come down again. Dont forget to Follow the White Rabbit!! Fatal says hi too!!

At one point each skill farm could net you several hundred million ISK per month (over the cost of PLEX’ing it). With PLEX hovering around 6m those days are long behind us.
If you have existing skill farms, if you PLEX’d them out for a few years, if you have a stash of skill extractors and if you banked some PLEX - then you’re still probably ok.
But for anyone wanting to get into it now, it requires a combination of cash + PLEX to make it work.

I have a pair of characters with 2+ years of Omega left that I’m just extracting the training from every month. This nets me about 2.4 billion ISK every month. Enough to PLEX my main if I bank it - but not enough to PLEX all 3 characters unless I take advantage of the 100 + 100 free extractor sale (which works out to around $20/year per Omega, which is a fairly good deal).
