So back in the days i just used other’s player fit for ship i just bought. And after i lost my cruiser i just deleted the game. And now(asi returned) i’d like to figure out how to choose ships, weapons, defence modules, ammo etc. Sorry if my question is not so specific
Thats a pretty big all encompassing question. Ships can also be fit in so many ways depending on what you want to do. However you can see what a ships bonuses are by looking at the info. For example this is the info on a Condor
So generally you would use light missiles or rocket launchers, probably with Kinetic missiles (Scourge) as it is bonused for them, you get 10% more damage for every level of Caldari Frigate you get, you would also use it as a tackler with its prop jamming capability.
Also hover over the options under ship characteristics and you will see it is generlaly shield fit etc, these are not hard and fast rules but i think a good guide for beginners
Thx, but how about choosing weapon in its class. Like for example stabber has bonus for ballistic cannons. But which is better? Autocannons or artillery? What size or even special like on photo
EveUniversity is your best Eve friend
Ship info tells you the size of weaponry allowed.
Those icons in vartans post, can be hovered over. The “S” means small weapons like light missile launchers
Ship role often tells you which type of weapon to use.
Ship size tells you which size (small for frigate and destroyer, medium for cruisers etc.)
Next, all weapons come in short range higher dps and longer range versions.
Autocannons are short range, artillery long. Blasters short, rails long. Rockets short, light missiles long etc.
Pick the one you wish to use: fight at close range or further away, both are valid.
Next, the weapons can have multiple tiers and meta versions. You can use the ingame compare tool to see the differences. Some may have bigger damage bonuses or are easier to fit, or have slightly different range.
Also try not to mix weapons, pick one type and fill your high slots with them.
And all of this is just recommendations, it csn sometimes be good to use the wrong size or type of weapon, or to mix types or sizes. Such cases are rare though, try to stick to the recommendations at first!
Old but good Don't Mix Guns
Stabber has a bonus to Medium Projectiles rate of fire and falloff
Autocannons are close range, Artillery longer range, your choice is down to you and personal preference, do you like being up close and personal or at a distance?
Which gun to use is also down to fitting room, (CPU, Powergrid etc) as well as skills, you may not have the skills for T2 varients yet, nor the money to buy the faction options so you are left with T2
For example this is a fit I have on my main (who has quite high skills) i am not saying this is a good fit, it is just A fit
Here is another fit with 2 large shield extenders instead of 1
as you can see the CPU and power grid is near 100% so you probably couldnt fit higher that 220mm guns (if you want to keep the missile launchers).
As i said in my 1st reply, what you are asking is a big encompassing question with many variables based on many variables too, ultimately grab a fitting tool (like PYFA) and play around with it. There is no 1 size beats all fit, all can be countered by something
As i lost my last ship in abyss i’ve decided to compare minmatar cruisers and chose Rupture. Imo abyss need more DPS and defence, and Rupture has it with Autocannons. But Rupture is also slowest minmatar cruiser, so(i haven’t tried its just assumption) it wont be able to get in autocannon range. In that case Stabber is better cuz it has more high slots and better speed. I dont know what to choose
i know nothing about abysall accep tthat you need to do the 3 rooms in 20 mins, they they have various tiers, I would imagine (depending on the level you do) you will need speed and high DPS and long range weapons. but ill leave it down to people more in the know
Surprised nobody said it yet, so here it is: There’s no “better” weapon.
Each has its pros and cons. Certain enemies have vulnerabilities, certain ships have bonuses, certain tactics lean to certain choices.
You choose one you are familiar and comfortable with and make the best use out of it.
