How to remove/hide achievement score?

This is meaningless spam which clutters character profiles, forces the portraits to be smaller, and adds no meaningful information.

Is there no way to remove this?

There absolutely is a way to remove it, as many people’s profiles don’t have it. I can’t find the setting switch for it though, which means CCP might have forgotten to add it and it just randomly defaults to on or off for different people, rather than just defaulting to off like it obviously should.

Or we haven’t earned any yet.

I think just jumping stargates racks up one achievement or another. So unless you don’t undock, you’ll probably earn some inadvertently. Now it could be they don’t show unless you claim them, but I don’t know. I’m a notorious button-pusher, so if something comes up that says “claim” I just click it.

I have no titles or achievements Seems there’s no retroactivity, as I’ve done way more than 3 Epic Arcs over the years, for example.

Zero retroactive.

The devs stated on one of the NERDS podcasts that they would’ve liked to do retroactive achievements, but it wasn’t practical. IIRC, it was the same when they introduced the Activity Tracker.

There’s also no way to turn off the full screen splash notification when you get an achievement.

God â– â– â– â– â– â– â–  damn it.

CCP should hire an employee who actually plays the game.

I am afraid contemporary players of EVE, who have no idea what EVE actually is, like this kind of stuff. Plus, CCP typically only listens to Confirmation Bias, not actual reason.

Or has ever designed a UI successfully for someone else first.

It’s definitely a self-sabotaging move not to have the freedom to choose whether or not to use this, like we have with the medals given by corporations. This game is becoming like games for weak and spoiled people. What will be the next ridiculous thing, charging to change the color of the spaceship’s trail in space? Adding heart emojis and kisses??? I miss the days when you’d lose a level of skill in the T3 subsystems, having to update the clone on the station so you wouldn’t lose what you’d trained…

So…

Seriously? Do you miss learning skills too? There were a LOT of annoyances that we used to have and took for granted that no one should have to put up with. It has nothing to do with being “spoiled” or “weak”. Putting up with extra unneeded time sinks in a video game does not make you harder or better. It means you don’t value your time. Games are supposed to be entertainment, not a second job. If I want hard knocks, I power off the computer and go back to work.

The achievements are so trivial as well, like the Market Tycoon one requires you to have a couple billion isk. I mean, honestly, that’s not much.

Yeah, and the ”Calm down Miner” one is from actually mining? That’s just going to encourage them to mine more. It should be from ganking miners, like you know actually helping them to calm down their mining, socialise a little, go touch the grass etc.

Seriously: i do miss the learning skills and everything else mentioned above that you qualified as annoyances.

It was game mechanics and knowledge. Something to master, learn and not forget.

After all the whole game can be considered just a big “annoyance” as today everything could be automated by AI. 4/5 of the game could be played by the game itself and would not require any interaction from you.

But where do you draw the line for something to be an annoyance and what not to be one?

Some of them are easy to acquire, some take a lot of effort - and some are just stupid (“Titan of Industry”, I’m looking at you) - as literally only a handful of players will ever get them.

I’m not sure I entirely get the point of these. I thought there would be a visual thing but all we seem to get are a tiny achievement score box.

I can’t say I “miss” them, per se. But I do kind of feel that in taking them out, the game lost a degree of player agency. Whether or not to train learning skills was one of the first decision points for any new player. You had to weigh short-term deferment versus long-term gain. The argument for taking them out was, “Everyone trains them anyway, so it just adds tedium for no reason.” But I knew several people that never took the time to train them, so I don’t think that argument holds water.

Clone grade, on the other hand, was just a gotcha trap for the absent-minded. I was glad to see that mechanic go.
