Mm, Edgy Title. I did come here expecting to need to close a topic, but I wont. It’s a Valid topic.
The issue I see is thus: Zkill is a Third party software that you do not pay for. They pull freely available information from a CCP API and Interpret it in there own way. CCP is Fully uninvolved beyond providing information to it’s player base that any player can pull.
Since Zkill is a service that you do not pay for ( i believe. It’s free after all, unless you get the Golden wreck ) and is Only using information pulled from Publicly Provided CCP Database, not much you can do. You cannot claim privacy as no personal information is provided.
Shitty situation in your case, but nothing we can do here.
IRL says that if you do not like the service you and CCP agreed upon you can terminate it.
You might be aware that ingame content about your capsuleer are not governed by RL law. If it was people would be able to sue for damages each time their ship gets wrecked.
If I got one ISK for each and every post by people who have a total lack of understanding computer games, rules, laws, reality, …
I sympathize, you feel an injustice, or as you put it
but when has EVE ever been about the enforcement or encouragement of ethics?
EVE isn’t fair, and ethics, in game, is a matter of personal choice, in each and every situation.
Your argument would be more persuasive if you used the character this “unethical labeling” applied to…to post.
Right now, you’re asking EVE’s court of public opinion (the playerbase) to weigh in on your behalf (with outrage), and while I understand, given the nature of your post, your decision to choose anonymity and post with an alt, this weakens your argument, imo, substantially.
This, your original post, strikes me as a “crusade”, and I wish you well with it, but I think it will be an “uphill” battle.
Yeah this is the second post he makes where he tries to lawyer away the killboard. They said he was special but the killboard told him the truth. Now he is sad and wants it gone.
I feel like CCP should regulate Zkill because they do indeed make money off EVE players in many ways. Ads being a main one. Sponsored kill mails and golden wrecks being another. CCP should have influence over them because you can say we’re forced to use Zkill because CCP doesn’t have its own.
So I disagree, why can’t CCP have its own official killboard?
Then again, most corps suck and you wouldn’t want to join them anyway. OP did something that is now traceable and shows his real self. He doesn’t like that very much so now uses this thread to somehow clear himself.
If I had more money I would actually sue. I’ve studied law in college as a minor and I’ve seen many times people who has a case that isn’t strong enough to instantly win, but strong enough to go through the legal process. In those cases if the planitiff is willing to spend the money to go through the legal process a lot of the time the defendant will back down or compromise. What does it cost zKill to remove this label anyway? More than it would cost them in lawyer fees if I sue?
Luckily I don’t actually have the cheater label yet. So I could sell it… but as soon as that person joins a corp they’ll scream in agony and probably petition me for scam for not disclosing something like this in the sale.
