It’s a lot more space ( on screen ) effective to create multiple tabs you can switch between…all within one overview. For example I have a tab that shows only suspects. Its one quick click to switch it to a tab for travel, or one for everything.
Thanks, Captain Obvious! Thank you for telling us how the Overview normally works, surely none of us knew that.
Obviously, if you have screen space issues, you probably will only use the one overview. However, if you’re playing at a resolution of 3840x1080, then that clearly isn’t the case. As I said, a cheap second-hand monitor is a very worthwhile investment.
I don’t see this as a problem. I play EVE, I like EVE, I don’t mind seeing information about the game on the launcher. There have been occasions where CCP has advertised something pertaining to the game – like a sale in the NES store, a new expansion – that I had not heard of and wouldn’t have heard of had it not been on the launcher.
If CCP started renting that ad slot for third parties, then I will have a huge problem with it, as I would see it as spam. But EVE ads on the game launcher, this is a non-issue.
Bugs, lotsa bugs
eve will forever have launcher issues, all part of the comprehensive plan.
@Antihrist_Pripravnik it is very obvious you are deluded or maybe you are a CCP developer. I am not entirely sure which. I am not going to insult everyone’s intelligence here but ask yourself this one question; If the launcher is such a relevant part of this game, how is it, I can shut it off after the client starts? Case closed.
@Meridan_Night maybe it is not an issue as much as, it is a nonessential block to this game. When it is bugged or glitched, it keeps us all out in the cold until fixed. One game should have, one program, the client.
How do you propose to automatically update the game, or log into your clients, without using a launcher?
The same way they did it before 2013, when they introduced the old launcher. You double clicked the icon, it ran a version check and update if needed, then you got a log in screen.
I prefer the launcher now, the one that allows me to bypass the character select screen.
What if I need 10 login screens, not just one? What if I want it to update before and without me clicking on an icon?
Because maintenance of cache and updates is happening before the game is ready to launch. Simple.
Because the launcher is how they assure that everyone is using the same version of the client to connect to the server. The client now just has to do a final comparison with the server, and lets the dedicated program deal with file comparisons and update logs.
That’s really all it is, it’s not complicated.
The coolest thing about the launcher is the integrated IRC chatroom that lets you talk to other people. It’s like a mini-Discord.
Oh, you’re part of that generation that “discovered” a couple years ago that wind can be used to push cargo ships across the ocean.
Nevermind…
Knuckle draggers, lotsa Knuckle draggers.
You’re welcome. Do you need any more help ?
Thats great that you have no issues with launcher! I envy you.
Launcher is super buggy. Not so long ago it was occassionally freezing and one had to minimalise it and maximalize to unfreeze it. They fixed that, but as usual with CCP they just created a new issue. Surely not that impactful, but it is still not right. So what happens is that when you alt-tab to the launcher it starts scrolling in the account list. I have about 20 accounts as I am always abusing that “free” omega week for ganking, so it is a bit annoying when it does that.
What is much more annoying is that some of my accounts won’t start up. It doesn’t matter whether I use launch group feature or I try to launch them manually, launcher will show the account as launched, but the window with it isn’t there. When I realize that, I need to quit the account using the launcher a boot it up again. This has costed me several targets already.
And this issue is now worse than before. This is happening to me from start when I returned to EVE about half year ago. But till now, this issue was happening only at the beginning, ie. when I booted up my PC and EVE. After I launched all my accounts for the first time, then subsequent boting didn’t fail. Now it fails anytime and it is really annoying.
Except that, there are several less impactful bugs like that some accounts that I already closed (as I only collected the battlepass reward and quit) still shows as launched in the launcher. Also when I biomassed one of my toons, launcher still showed the original character in there.
And some clients seems to just disappear by itself, and launcher will still show them as launched despite the window with it just isn’t there anymore yet I am sure I didn’t close it myself.
And of course the launcher would show my accounts that I subbed as alpha until next day (or possibly until restarting the launcher, it didn’t bother me so I didn’t try that). This is another non-impactful issue but shows exactly what OP says - low quality of coding.
Note I play on a PC with Windows 10.
This argument might apply for actual game, but launcher is no special. Except perhaps the multiboxing support which other games and their launchers don’t have because thsoe games are not supporting multiboxing and are typically not easy to multibox as they have higher apm than EVE.
So why other game developers can code a quality launcher for their game, but CCP cannot?
But even if we apply your argument to the actual game, there is not that much that is really unique and that nobody else did. The only thing that is unique in EVE is its single worldwide server and no instances. That allows thousands of players to gather and do sh*t at the same place and same time, but we all know how poor experience is that and it is getting abused a lot.
And this is just not an excuse for the game being so buggy. EVE is by far the most bugged MMO on the market. There are hundreds of gamebreaking bugs that were reported by thousands of players (surely I am not the only one reporting bugs am I? so considerinng these bugs are there since I started playing in 2016, hundreds is lowball, there were possibly thousands of reports) and they are there for years and CCP is not even trying to fix them. Because monetization takes priority, more and more skins and packages and whatsnot (SKINR) are added for us to pay more and more cash or spend more PLEX (that someone has to buy for cash first).
I would love to be loyal boot licker like you, but I am realist and I have experiences with coding and basically every other part of the gaming industry except HR lol. So I can spot a bad code and design when I see one.
Bro, I’m sorry I ganked you again, but your alliance leader made it very clear he wants to be hostile, and I’m just so sorry that I’m a PvP player who shoots people when they are in a hostile alliance. Why wouldn’t I? There’s just no need to be so salty at me for years. Like, I’m so sorry you got scammed back in 2018, but that was before I even came to the game. What did the Venture contest ever have to do with me? Anyways, I think if you blocked me in game, you should have enough sense to not try and insult me in the forums. If you don’t want to talk to me, stop talking about me. Yes, I’m enjoying EvE very much, but that doesn’t make me a bootlicker. Maybe you should try running an appropriate number of accounts for your computer. The problem isn’t that CCP is bad at computer programming, it’s just that you are bad at balancing your goals against technical realities. o7 capsuleer!

World is not rotating around you honey. I don’t give a ■■■■ about your antiganking alliance. So you saved one miner that I was about to kill, who cares. I found another few minutes later. Couldn’t care less.
I am not so petty nor salty to disagree with you on the forum just because we met and interacted ingame. You might be doing that, but not me. I simply discuss here free of personal emotions. I know that you might find it odd because you clearly don’t do that, but some of us who are here on forums do discuss objectively.
Btw I stopped reading this paragraph after the line I quoted. I bet it is the same nonsense where you try to put emotions into my loss and call me salty, angry and where you try to mock my alliance and try to offer me a better one, yours. You are like a broken record.
Oh yes. That is the only argument you CCP bootlickers always use.
No need to add anything.
You care a lot, and it’s cringe you are too immature to talk about your feelings.
I’m here if you change your mind, until then I will consider you hostile.
Good luck out there buddy.
that’s a lot of text for someone who’s not salty…
I like the part where he repeatedly calls me a bootlicker, while pretending that he isn’t letting emotions dictate his replies.
