In game I run a few moderated channels – essentially non-chat channels with help and information for EVE Online pilots.
The channels I run are:
Rookie Infopedia – Useful info for rookies, newbies and returning veterans in one place
Pilot Infopedia – Useful info for all EVE Online pilots in one place
Fittings Encyclopedia – All the fitting channels you need in one place
Overview Encyclopedia – Useful overview channels and info in one place
I also run two channels that are still a bit of a work in progress:
Industry Encyclopedia – Useful Industry and Planetary Industry (PI) info in one place
PvE Encyclopedia – Useful Player Versus Environment (PvE) info in one place
Lastly I also run the Disabled Players Lounge – designed to be a cool non-judgemental space for disabled players to hang out and discuss anything that relates to playing EVE with a disability, or indeed, disability generally.
At the moment all of the MOTDs of these channels are reasonably chunky (to cram in as much info as I can). The snuggest one is on is on 3670/4000 with just 330 characters left.
To enable longer MOTDs I’ve posted requests for the character limit to be expanded to 8,000 characters – which would match the in-game email limit – into the Council Of Stellar Management Assembly Hall here: MOTDs and/or Shareable Notebook Pages and also into the Little things / Small QoL suggestions thread here: Suggestion: Expanded MOTD Character Count.
If you felt able to to support one or both of these threads with likes and/or comments I’d be very grateful. Obviously the more support they get, the more likely that a change will happen.
A few years ago at Fanfest, this issue was raised in a Q+A session (if my memory is right, I think it might have been by @Kshal_Aideron - forgive me if I’ve got this wrong!).
For various reasons I’m unable to attend Fanfest, but if you could mention it to any Devs and CCP’ers to keep the issue ‘live’ and potentially under review, I’d be very grateful, thanks.
