The text size in the chat field does not save from session to session. It saves in the chat window, where you can see all your buddies chats but not in your own window where you type. Keeps defaulting back to whatever it is based on resolution or whatever, not sure what it defaults back to.
Have you tried increasing the default font size in ESC > Chat > Font Size ?
