Lai Dai Corporation and Intaki Assembly sign Armistice, Onikanabo Brigade withdrawing from Intaki V

It’s been quite some time Veikitamo - you’ve popped up just in time, since I trust your instincts on this stuff more than my own.

What do you think will come of the complaint against Lai Dai?

Likely very little. Ishukone is arguing loss of business in Intaki but it has to be remembered that doesn’t make it a corporate territory – the Intaki Assembly might reject such an assertion even if made de facto. Then it has be considered Ishukone has a Shipping contract and events transpired on the ground, Lai Dai could still claim Interstellar shipping was unaffected by their actions and Ishukone’s claims are without ground (pardon the pun).

It seems that, at best, Ishukone might get a cut of the action.

Probably, but most of the bookies I placed bets with are favouring Lai Dai right now.

Since we are speculating, I would say from a legal standpoint it seems unwise for the Intaki Assembly to continue with a conflict against Lai Dai. As it may lead to complications with Ishukone’s case. It is also very likely the Assembly realizes their best chance at some kind of recompense is through a legal victory in Ishukone’s favour.

The tone of Ishukone’s Special Corporate Council, Majima Umokka, indicates this to be likely. No facts present support the speculation that Ishukone has failed in their efforts or that they’ll be cut out.

Oh, I’m sure the local populace of Intaki are putting all their hopes in Ishukone right now after a Gallentean soft drinks manufacturer defended them instead.

LDPS and Onikanabo Brigade occupied the Kainta Yavaat Transorbital Launch Facility, a major export facility on Intaki Prime, and a significant transit hub in the Intaki system. Of course Ishukone’s ability to operate efficiently was affected.

If that’s a suggestion that Ishukone Watch should have had boots on the ground, with troops in the thick of the fighting, it misunderstands Ishukone’s franchise in the Intaki system.

Ishukone have no mandate for a military presence. That is reserved for Mordu’s Legion, who do have some questions to answer.

And it’s hyperbole to suggest the defence of Intaki interests rested on Quafe.

That credit goes to the Intaki militia, Mordu’s Legion, Condotta Rouvenor and Isuuaya Tactical, and the personnel deployed by multiple local capsuleer groups.

Thank you Bataav, I was going to reply with the same points. The situation isn’t as simple as some make it out to be.

It’s about the difference between perception and reality. Lai Dai knew exactly what they were doing to both achieve their objectives and foster certain perceptions: that Ishukone was standing idly by while they let a bull rampage in the Intaki porcelain shop – which let’s admit, circumstances let them do so.

Perceptions matter in business, they foster confidence in a company. Throughout this whole affair Lai Dai has appeared assertive and strong, pressing their interests to an extent they leave Intaki with their objectives secured and showing a degree of Caldari superiority over a Federal member-state. Meanwhile, Ishukone has been wholly reactive, responding to Lai Dai only, which has an aura of weakness or impotence.

In terms of investor confidence in the State, investors would be bullish on Lai Dai by their actions especially when combined with the PKN news on 4-4. This is good for the company, driving share prices up, which would outweigh any CBT slap on the wrist.

Yeah, I made a killing on Lai Dai shares during this. I’ve recovered my principal sum but have decided to let the interest ride because I think Ishy are going to take a bath on their call of an inquiry.

From the perspective of the State this has been a Win:Win:Win. Assets have been realised, LDPS have advertised their abilities and Ishu’s hold on the Intaki money making machine has been rattled.

That’s brilliant.

As if I needed more reason to jettison your crew into the void…

Look, I’m in favour of independence for Intaki - but money is money.

I’m in favor of saving lives, but a message is a message…

That usually costs money.

In all seriousness Nomistrav, I appreciate that it’s upsetting when an occupying power flagrantly disregards all the usual niceties of humanitarian conventions in exercising military objectives on your homeworld.

I REALLY DO.

Even more upsetting when someone you once called friend profits off of it. Watch yourself, Tuulinen. My memory may be short these days, but I have a knack for remembering who to shoot first.

There is no justifiable excuse for mistreating captives in your care, irrespective of the commander of the vessel they were rescued from. You’re a good pilot and a solid wingman, and I understand that it is a bit insensitive to boast about profiting from this state of affairs, if but if I witness anything of the sort whilst we are flying together they will not be abandoned to die in the void’s cold embrace.

Whilst Lai Dai might be riding high on success right now, there is still the matter of the CBT case that has yet to be resolved. Whilst it may go either way, until the day of announcement it is not over.

If you’re going to shoot me preferentially over a thing like buying and selling Lai Dai stock, I have a feeling that you’ll have a new enemy by the end of the week, in any case.

If you’re going to have ‘friends’ across factional lines then you’re going to have to develop a thicker skin, Nomi, because this is very very small potatoes in the grand scheme of things.

I didn’t buy the stock because they did the things they did, I already had the stock because Lai Dai stock was part of my portfolio. This just allowed me to cash in more quickly than expected and realise a return on that stock investment.

Honestly. You may as well shoot any capitalist.

Finally, I will reiterate a standard promise. Any favour extended to one of my crew will be returned with interest. Any cruelty extended to one of my crew will be returned WITH INTEREST. If you have a problem with me, take it up with me. Don’t lash out at my people.

That’s interesting… So you profit off of the destruction of cultural centers by making an unethical choice in stock, directly harming my people, it’s a capitalist investment… but I threaten to jettison your crew - “paid back with interest” one might say - it’s lashing out at your people… Strange how much care and concern goes toward our own when they are directly at threat, isn’t it…?

Maybe you should choose better investments…

EDIT: We didn’t stop being friends because you’re Caldari, Tuulinen… We stopped being friends because you don’t learn… Instead of boasting about how much profit you made off of the situation; maybe you should have considered pulling out of that particular market… Can’t eat your cake and have it too…
