Launcher Startup Issues

Windows 10 - RAM 24 GB - Video Nvidia 2 GB
Recently I am having to start the Eve Launcher twice. It appears the first time only as an icon in the taskbar on the far right. Then it just stops or crashes, I run it again and it loads. Anyone else get this or have an idea what is happening here?

Not game breaking, just annoying me.

Should work…i wonder however why your system is so unbalanced when i compare RAM and VRAM sizes? 2GB is almost nothing these days and you could very well run into trouble already with only one client and the launcher. Should work for now somehow i guess, but not for the long run.

It is an old Nvidia card, but who can afford new when they cost as much as a new machine? I do play a lot of modern 3D games on this machine. I am very surprised when it barely passes the program minimums. I am planning to upgrade the whole machine by next summer, when I get back from overseas. This unit has served me well, but it would be pointless to buy a massive over powered GPU for such an old PC.

I am just wondering what could be causing my system to kill the launcher on the first go? Second time is always the fix on it. I just wish it would launch on the first one. I seriously doubt my 2 GB of VRAM is being swallowed by the launcher.

I just wondered and can’t help you with your problem, but running a launcher and one client should be fine with 2GB and the launcher should not behave like it does.

Actually since I am a double omega, I can run 2 clients no issues. I just don’t have the need to or desire multibox. I tested it today, and running 2 clients consumed 33% of my RAM memory. The GPU spiked when they launched but calmed down after a few seconds. Then I closed the launcher and the RAM dropped down too. I’m really sensing it is not a memory issue.

I am curious about your thoughts on one thing, a friend in the field of IT, asked me to check blocked sites in my host file. Said the launcher works on the same principle as a web browser. I told him, I am running HaGeZi’s Windows Office Tracker DNS Blocklist host list which currently blocks out 2092 data hijackers, spies, and pirates. That is run through my Pi-hole. They suggested I try the launcher without the blocker, to which I responded, Are you f–king kidding me?! I put that in place for a damn good reason.

I assume at this time, CCP is not running any malicious DNS, via their launcher. That would be a real turn off, if the launcher was actually collecting personal data to be sold. I won’t turn off the Pi-hole for a second, even to test that theory. Also if you understand how the Pi-hole works, it doesn’t actually block, it sends back Message received :+1: and never let’s the real traffic through.
