Little things / Small QoL suggestions

Suggestion: Set default camera zoom level and add reset camera position button/hotkey.

Keywords: Camera, UI

The camera currently resets to a close up view of your ship whenever you undock or jump a gate/wormhole, leading to constantly readjusting the camera view to your preference. I would like a per character setting for default zoom level (and potentially orientation, though thats of secondary importance), and a button/hotkey to reset camera back to the default zoom and (if not custom then whichever way it currently orients on jump) orientation.

Suggestion: Make the game launcher save already downloaded update contents

Keywords: launcher, updates, pause, progress
Note: useful if the internet connection is interrupted

Whenever an update is interrupted, the update usually restarts from the beginning, so it would be great if the launcher saves already downloaded content and not restart the whole update as this effectively inflates the size of the update anywhere from tens of megabytes to a few gigabytes depending on how big the update is and how many interrupts occur.

suggestion: make pressing anywhere in a ov window make that window the “active ov filer” in d-scan"
Keywords: ui, directional scan, d-scan, overview, ov, windows

when you have more then 1 ov window and want to use a tab to d-scan you have to press the small “tab” text (in this case “drones”) to make that tab the active d-scan filer
pressing anywere els on that tab highlights the tab but do not make it the active d-scan filer

Imgur: The magic of the Internet (gif)

make it so pressing anywhere in a ov tab makes it the active d-scan filter

Suggestion: Improved highlight on set route(s) in overview.
Keywords: stargate, waypoint, route
Note: Makes it easier to view and jump to the next Stargate (hard to see at times).

Currently the highlighted path is displayed in yellow. Under personal assets, it’s also bolded (making it easier to select). In addition to also bolding it in the overview, it would be great if we could also highlight it with an accent or alert color that’s set in the Theme.

Can you really notice the difference with the yellow accent vs. the system I’ve highlighted manually? If this had a “warning” accent color (in my case, a medium red) it would be even easier to read.

Suggestion: Optional toggle for search by typing in locations window, survey window, and other windows that eat input when focused.

Keywords: UI, input

If you use the local locations window to warp to a bookmark, that window is focused. Any further input is then sent to that window and used to jump to bookmarks in the list that matches the input. In practice, this disables all hotkeys (except for F keys) until you click outside the window. A toggle option is necessary to preserve the current functionality for those who need it.
This also happens if you run a Survey Scanner, as the results window gets focused once the cycle has finished.

And more online shared folders at the same time

Suggestion: Reassignable hotkeys for directional scanner filters.

Keywords: UI, Hotkeys

Currently, filters in the d-scan window are hard coded to 1-0 and assigned alphabetically. This makes them fiddly to assign. The current key assignments also causes the window to eat numerical input when focused.
Would like the ability to reassign these hotkeys to add a modifier, as well as use them globally without focusing the window.

Suggestion: Reassignable hotkeys for probe scanner filters.

Keywords: UI, Hotkeys

Currently, default filters in the probe scanner window are hard coded to 1-6, and custom filters cannot be assigned a hotkey. The number assignment also causes the window to eat 1-6 numerical input when focused.
Would like the ability to reassign these hotkeys to add a modifier, as well as use them globally without focusing the window. Would like to assign custom filters a hotkey.

Suggestion: Fix Launcher freeze issue
Keywords: ui, launcher

The launcher regularly freezes and does not show status changes if you use the character quick launch feature. It does not show the loading icon when you click and hold on a character.
It also freezes when trying to scroll the list of accounts.
Current fix is to maximise/restore the window every time you want to launch new characters.

Suggestion: Check for updates BEFORE allowing clients to launch.
Keywords: Launcher

Currently if you load up the launcher after a patch/update has been released it is possible to have the launcher open for a prolonged period of time with no updates taking place, however once you start launching clients it then checks to see if there has been an update and will block the rest of the charaters from launching. You have to close all clients to let the launcher update before launching clients agin.

Suggestion: Consistent ordering and loading of Daily login reward, Events, NES and Redeem queue Neocom buttons.

Keywords: Neocom, UI

Neocom buttons for daily login rewards, events, NES and redeem queue do not always get positioned in the same order, and can differ between multiple clients. The buttons do not populate on login.
NES icon loads when inventory is accessed, my assumption is any UI event which loads the plex vault.
Events button loads on an unknown trigger/when it wants to.
Daily login rewards likely loads on login, I have no current ones to test with. If item hangar (plex vault trigger) is already open and daily rewards are active, I suspect this might cause them to load and get positioned in an inconsistent order.
All buttons should load consistently at login, in a fixed UI order.

Currently, on a few different clients.

Suggestion: Increase online bookmark folder size

Keywords: bookmarks
Note: Double the size of shared bookmark folder

Current number of available bookmarks per online folder is very limiting even for medium sized wormhole corps. In large and active corporations we have to purge still valid bookmarks few times a day.

Suggestion: Increase amount of online shared folders to 5

Keywords: bookmarks
Note: Increase or even double the number of allowed online folders

Wormholers often have 2 online folders basically permanently locked to even operate in wormhole space, meaning there is only one open “slot” for something else, which often is the shared thera folder. This makes joint operations difficult and frustrating for everyone involved, it’s a huge pain point for scanners.

Suggestion: Ability to lock specific Jump Clones to prevent accidental destruction

Keywords: ui, jump clones, implants
Note: Jump Clones with implants can be very expensive, and easily accidentally destroyed.

There is no additional step to destroy a valuable clone. If a clone has value the confirmation message displays it, but the steps to delete it are the same as for an empty clone.

No additional step → you get used to always having to click yes on the warning → the warning no longer has a purpose.

So when is a clone valuable? which ones need an extra step? → let us decide with a lock/unlock action.

We move around a lot by clone jumping and self-destructing to home stations, and to be able to do that again the next time you need it you usually have to (re)place a jump clone. And because clones are limited that usually means destroying a clone left behind somewhere. Many chances for mistakes.

Suggestion: Change icons of ECM related modules

Keywords: ui, icons, modules
Note: Change the look of ECM related modules

In current implementation ECM modules are hard to distinguish between each other. I can never differentiate between caldari and gallente ECMs. The Multispectrum ECM looks nearly identical to Radar ECM, same goes for Burst ECM. The whole thing is very unfriendly to people with colour blindness.
Multispectrum ECM should be gray / monochrome, Burst should have completely different icon, and racial ECMs should be differentiated by both colour (more pronounced) and shape.

Suggestion: Add whole fleet to watchlist button

Keywords: ui, fleet
Note: Extra option to add to watchlist fleet, wing and squad separately.

When flying a FAX or other logi I just want to add everyone to watchlist, not matter how people sort themselves into different squads when joining fleet. It’s very tedious to go through dozens of squads to watchlist everyone, and at the end I will miss somebody anyway. Please add extra option to “Watchlist Fleet” when rightclicking Fleet Commander field, and “Watchlist Wing” when rightclicking Wing Commander.

I would really like this too, no sense in not having it and some granular control is nice.
As a workaround in the meantime: once you have the watchlist window up you can mark all fleet chat members and drag and drop names onto watchlist.

Came here to say this. So seconded.

Also abitlity to contract items from containters.

Suggestion: Allow Group Move of Extractor Heads

Keywords: pi, planetary interaction, planetary industry
Note: QoL Improvement for PI

The user can already multi-select all extractor heads tied to an extractor control unit just by clicking on the extractor control unit itself. Please allow multi-selection of extractor heads after clicking “Install Extraction Program” to move the heads together in a group. Considering even one P2 planet can have 13 or more extractor heads, even one character with good skills can have 75+ extractor heads across six planets. That quickly adds up for multiple characters (225+ for three) across multiple accounts. With the introduction of templates and a “Restart Extraction” button, this final functionality is all that’s needed to get the existing system to a bearable state.

If devs are feeling even more ambitious, you could do away with the extractor heads altogether. Even fewer players are moving them at all thanks to the “Restart Extraction” button (a welcome improvement). Instead of the tedium of moving hundreds of extractor heads around, we could just allow PI skills such as Planetology and Advanced Planetology, in conjunction with other factors such as the planet’s individual characteristics and collective player usage, to determine yields from various set ups.

It is fun to customize and build the configurations, but it is NOT fun to push around hundreds of extractor heads on a regular basis. Tedium should not be used to balance the economy. If QoL improvements result in increased supply of PI, the quantity of PI required by blueprints and/or higher tiers of PI can be increased to elevate demand and keep prices stable.
