When I started playing, we had to use a rolled up newspaper in the middle of the road for intel.
Seriously, dscan, probes, scouts, maps etc. The tools are there.
I can’t believe how many are threatening to rage quit over this.

I agree. As CEO of a small corp this may be the end for me. This is clearly to cement the strength of the already established powers that be and caused by their cowardice and fear of smaller corps gaining any kind of foothold whatsoever.

Uhm. You do log in and play Eve Online right?
You do know what an API is, and where it gets the data? From in the game. Open the ■■■■■■■ map and you can get the same exact data. And it’s normally delayed worse on sites than in the game. Maybe a bit easier to search and visualize, but yeah…

Then leave local up. Local was in the game, you know that right? Its the data used by defenders you know that right? If you log in you would see that.
Open the ■■■■■■■ chat from the systems you use the map to find to go to. Maybe might make you see that both tools are free intel and one benefits the defender but yeah…

It’s sad that in the grimdark future security camera technology has been lost. IRL I can put a security camera on my porch and see who is coming and going.

I don’t understand why PvE people are complaining. Even though I like PvP, when I look at what I actually do in game it’s mostly PvE. Passive intel has always been the big barrier for me to move to Null. Out-of-dscan safes are meaningful now. Cloaking devices are properly useful now. Situational awareness is actually valuable now. I lived in WH space temporarily but hated scanning chains down, rolling holes, and particularly the need to rely on corpmates or alts to get back home after being podded out. Null is actually a viable in-between now, with all of the advantages of not having local, but without the obnoxious chores of WH life.

If lack of local, then I think this would be a good “active protection” for krabs. But there better be some balancing like a D-scan nullified ship that by-passes this mechanic.
