Long(er) Range Targeting

How do you utilize the full range of cruise missiles? At my skill level, with my Navy Raven, my missiles have a range of 155km, but with Targeting IV I can only target to 108km. I’m a couple of days from level V on long range targeting, but that’s only a 5% increase. It still won’t target close to what the missiles are capable of. Are there skills or modules that push targeting out to over 150km?

Sensor boosters with targeting range scripts, signal amplifiers and targeting range rigs.

2 Sensor Boosters and 2 Missile Guidance Systems with no scripts on either served me well on the navy raven.

I was able to hit beyond 200km and because I didn’t narrow the focus with scripts, I was able to target and hit frigates and destroyers just fine.

Without tuning a Raven for range, it will be able to launch Fury Cruises that fly 167km, if skill maxed. However, the untuned Raven will lock targets only within 112km distance.

A Vulture Command ship, piloted by an equally skill maxed Capsuleer with an Information Mindlink can use Sensor Optimization charged Information Command Burst modules to provide +49% lock range to its fleet, giving Ravens in its fleet 167km lock range, i.e. the lock range equal to fury missile engagement range.

To Pummel farer, a shield tanked Raven Fleet would usually equip Signal Amplifier(s), while an armor tanked Raven fleet would fit and activate Sensor Boosters. Long Range Shield Ravens would usually have 2 Signal Amplifiers and 2 Ballistic Computers, which allows them to still be dealing damage while having the full 222km Faction Cruise range, while armor tanked ravens load Targeting Range Scripts or fit two Sensor Boosters.

Note that the while the Vulture usually also cycles Electronic Superiority Commands, their effect on Target Painters is lower then the Sensor Optimization Commands are to the sensor range, which means pummeling at full range will greatly compromize DPS as you’re getting on the far side (or even beyon) the TP effective range.

Signal amp will have you covered.
