When completing missions, some ore is wasted, depending on the characteristics of the equipment used. Generated resources do not imply redundancy, taking into account waste during mining. There are no warnings that the modules used will prevent mission completion due to some resource being wasted. Therefore, mission completion is impossible with some mining modules. Tested on the destroyer Pioneer with Minner II.
Let me guess, you were using mining drones….
Mission ore is coded to not have any waste. However, there is a bug if using mining drones. You will end up short.
Yes, mining drones II were used. I don’t recall this being a problem before. Granted, I haven’t completed missions for two or three years, but I almost always used drones to speed up mining.
This has been a bug for years. Long story short, don’t use drones to mine mission ore…
It’s a shame there’s no warning in the mission description. I wanted to report it on the forum, but I must have entered the wrong topic.
It’s been widely reported. In fact, I did a full workup in the Level 4 Mining Missions thread.
TL;;DR You CAN use mining drones, but they MUST be called back BEFORE the rock pops. If the drones are mining and the laser pops the rock, they will return with a partial cycle and failure results. If the drones complete the rock entirely by themselves, it’s not a problem. But do not mix and match.
Tips:
- put drones on a rock by themselves and let them completely finish it without interruption
- If mixing with a laser, turn off laser or recall drones as rock gets low. LET THE LASER POP THE ROCK.
- do NOT recall mining drones with a partial cycle. Let them complete the cycle, deposit ore, then recall before they can mine again.
All that being said, with new mining crits we are ending up with extra mission ore. Save that extra ore and use it for these situations.
