The Mining Surveyor allows us to open a windows called Mining Survey Results. It lists all the rocks in the belts and these can be sorted by: Type, Value and Alphabetically. There are also a isk / m³ for each rock and a value before them.
My question is, when ii says “Value”, it that New Eden Value, value of the rock on the Market or otherwise what is that “value” based on?
In the Survey Result window, Scordite III - Grade is listed above Plagioclase II - Grade. Does that mean I will get a better value if I mine Scordite III - Grade?
I looked up the Market and Scordite III -Grade is around 20isk but Plagioclase III - Grade is around 33isk. According to the Market I should mine Plagioclase III - Grade.
Should I pay much attention to the Survey Mining Results or should I check the Market for what I should mine?

No value number in Eve is ever accurate except the one in the order window.
The values are calculated by regional average price, not by any actual set price of the good. It’s a rough estimate for people like me, who don’t want to have to memorize or look up the prices of everything we run across in the game to see if it’s worth looting/mining.
So in my exemple I should go for Plagioclase III - Grade instead of Scordite III - Grade and check the regional market for unit prices.

I’d suggest finding an industrialist near where you mine to sell your ore directly to. You can make more isk for less effort if you’re targeting what a specific customer, with a short delivery trip, needs most, rather than relying on the whims of the market.
Remember, this is technically an MMO, and direct combat isn’t the only way to interact with others. As a part of the industrial chain, the market really should be your last resort to offload materials, just like it should be the last place you get materials.
That would be ideal if, by doing that, I would get better prices than the market. And who knows, I may get invited by a corporation as a Miner.

Except that Plagio is 0.35m3 per unit, and Scordite is 0.15m3/unit. So, Scordite is worth more per m3. You will mine it more than twice as fast. So yes, you will get better value if you mine Scordite.
