“Yes, you are always allowed to have multiple accounts. CCP just makes it so you need multiple computers if you are running multiple alpha accounts.”
“Only one alpha client can be run at a time on a single computer. Omega accounts don’t have that restriction.”
“I don’t know, I just had a discussion with a GM to get clarification, and they told me that as long as you are using one alpha account per computer, and multiple computers, you can run as many alpha accounts at the same time as you want to.”
Generally it was my impression that circumventing the alpha block by using multiple computers was NOT allowed.
EDIT Filed ticket requesting an official response to this thread.
Ive also been told that though you can do this, if you use them together, particularly for isk making or in order to circumvent the restrictions for personal gain, you can face some stiff penalties.
So use at our own discretion and know that if youre circumventing the system the banhammer can find you.
Won’t happen. At least not as a “response” to your ticket. Usually a GM responds by giving you a more or less vague answer or citing from ToS/Eula which can be interpreted at CCPs discretion any time. And that is intentional. In most cases you know exactly as much as before.
At least it would be the first time that I see CCP “clarifying something in public” because someone demanded that they do so.
Ask yourself a simple question: With whatver you are doing, are you trying to circumvent the simple rule that Alpha Access to the game is intentionally limited to one account only?
If your answer is something like “Yeah well… but I think I am superclever and found some crazy smart loophole!!!11111” then you’ll most likely get banned if caught. They want you to use only one account to play the game if that account is an Alpha. No backdoor. No wishy washy. No “but what if I…”. ONE. Really simple. Anything beyond that is at your personal risk.
Just 2 quick examples, note there are updates, but these topics are not the topic here. Merely to show clarifications of rules.
I know admins everywhere like to be wake so they can always just ban the people they don’t like, and give their friends an advantage. But this creates unhealthy environments for things like a game.
In your case playing with neighbours on the same wifi still means that each one has their own account linked to thier own personal details as well as their own email address. So it is separated by person as well as computer.
Rookie chat last night when I was on made it sound like running multiple alphas accounts at the same time was not allowed. Which I get it, the game needs to make money.
Also could probably break the servers if you wanted to by just jumping 50k alphas around everywhere.
you can be permabanned, also a long time ago friends of mine found out that all CEO’s and Alliance leadership in an Alliance can get banned if found to encourage others to purposely break item 2 of the EULA.
If you made a petition and it was a GM talking to you then he/she needs retrained or to be fired since GM’s are a paid position.
However if it was ISD, a volunteer….then he/she needs to be dropped from the program for putting out false information or trying to mislead players on purpose.
Please lets us know this GM or ISD by their in game name…..so at least I if not we the community can report him/her to the CSM to speak with CCP for summary judgement.
Well I did not want to start a mud slinging contest thats why I cut out the name. But the first 3 letters if the name that posted they had just talked to a GM and the GM said as many as you want, was ISD.
As for which GM they had talked to, the entire quote is in the OP, no specific name was given.
EDIT Also as for the ISD spreading false information, they are themselves mislead by the GM if it is not allowed.
ISD, a volunteer person who prolly has no idea how to play the game let alone know the EULA like the back of their eyelids….which i almost do, i study it on a daily basis. If you know the name of the char i would report the incident to the ISD complaint system, make a petition to GM’s about….or report the person to the CSM
