New Mechanic - Battleships "Frigate Escape Bay"

Sounds like a fun change for roaming with a group of battleships.

I really think CCP dropped the ball on this as it could have been so, so much more.

Imagine a titian getting popped and its ā€œescapeā€ is a dread.
That dread gets popped and poof out comes a carrier.
Then when that dies, a BS…then a BS…followed by a C and then a desi and frigate with a vette being the last ship before your pop…

This Russian Doll content would have been absolutely great…too bad all we get are frigs…

Let’s hope they expand on the idea!

Personally I think it’s a silly idea that has no place in EVE, but at the same time I’m kinda interested to see how it works out for different play styles.

This is EvE. You should always assume your ship is forfeit the instant you press undock. This mechanic is a way to increase longevity in a fight. Maybe it’s a useless longevity. Maybe not. You don’t have to use it.

Does insuring your ship also mean you are planning to lose it? I’ve never heard anyone arguing against insurance using the logic you are demonstrating here. But I suppose you believe anyone using insurance is planning to lose their ship. Bollocks indeed.

You could sort of explain the lack of escape bay on larger hulls by the fact that they have other types of bays, fuel bays for jump drives, ship maintenance bays, freighter doesn’t but one could argue it’d eat up precious cargohold.

Ill prolly put a frigate in there with smart bombs, to properly whore in on all kills.

Don’t see why not. The Nestor already has a ship maintenance bay, and since it’s a battleship, it will be getting this ā€œfrigate ejectā€ bay as well…

Definitely one of the coolest ideas I have seen. If EVE Echoes implements titans which can hold multiple ships so that they can be used as forward operating bases I hope they bring that to EVE Online as well.

There will be no mobile phone trash ā€œfeaturesā€ in our beloved EVE Online, thank you…

I don’t bother insuring ships as I never fly an individual ship enough to likely lose it before the insurance expires.

Yes, anyone using insurance is planning on losing their ship, otherwise insurance is a waste of money.

I think the attempt is great, and I applaud CCP for making some kind of attempt to do something with battleships since they caved to the battleship-haters years ago. Now, will it be pointless? Useless? I have no idea, but probably. But do I support the attempt, in lieu of nothing else? Yes.

Viva la CCP!

Did you even play the beta bro? It’s basically EVE with a simplified interface.

It will make them cheaper lol

Can’t smartbomb their expensive pod when they come out in a tanked frigate, which can also take the mods from the ship they just lost lmao

Um… I … f**king love this idea. Holy cow you guys.
It does not matter if this is effective or not, or what the deal is. It’s just new and cool.

Let me guess, CCP must have some new people working there? Hopefully this gets implemented before their souls get sucked out. If not by coworkers, then by the usual "hurf blurf everything sucks and I hate life gank gank gank and ISK ISK ISK " crowd.

That’s why you keep another 3 or 4 catalysts there who aren’t a part of the original gank to pop the frigate, and then their pod…

Ah, spare catalysts. You make it sound so easy.

I highly doubt that gankers will give up that easily. There are plenty of ways it can be done. They aren’t just going to pop the battleship and watch the pilot fly off unharmed in their frigate, implants intact…

If you get to the point where you have a sudden swarm of frigates in your fleet, you’ve already lost the battle.

FC will be trying to disengage by that stage.

A couple of ships could be useful, but once you start losing your main fleet, the fight is pretty much over.

What a smart boy you are
