New possible skills?

My PoV is that

  1. The suggestion made in the OP is overlooking major balance conquences, thus being bad for the game. Thats why it gets a straight “no” in it’s current form. Also the justification is basically “I want more skills just to keep skilling”, which shouldn’t be an issue for 99,999% of the EVE Population because they are FAAAAAR away from having All Skills V. You just want that the ships you already fly get even stronger, which is just another word for “powercreep” which is obviously bad.

  2. I don’t like the “it was just for fun”-attitude because changing the game is a serious matter that has consequences for it’s future. I expect at least a minium of seriousness and quality. The latter requiring at least some basic knowledge about the game, it’s mechanics. The first requiring that the poster at least tries to find drawbacks of his idea and bring good arguments why the benefits outweight these drawbacks. But that hasn’t happened here, someone just wrote what he “thougt would be a nice and funny idea” and didn’t waste a single thought about the interaction of his idea with the existing game.

All that is lazy, not helpful and a sheer waste of time for everyone reading it. Every topic that even begins with “I just had an idea and think it would be cool…” is a close to 100% identifier for a bad idea and this topic (once again) confirmed that.
So pretty please with lots of sugar on top: If you want to make a suggestion, do some reasearch about the part of the game you’d like to change. Be an expert on the matter. View the aspect from many angles, find out what problem your suggestion would actually try to solve and what new problems it could cause and how this could be prevented.

This is not about censorship, it’s about a minium quality. Because low quality ideas aren’t helpful, they only have the potential to make things worse. And EVE definitely doesn’t need that.

It’s not a big issue, really. Props for even daring to post in this pit of vipers.

I’ll give him that. Even a bad idea is better than no idea.

Sure, I have a lot of skills far from lev V.
The point with Ships related skills, is that I have all of them maxed to V.
I am training now Covert Jump for Black Ops.
I don’t need that. I don’t have anything else to train.

Mining related skills - I’m not a miner, I have some skills trained to V anyway
R&D skills - Same thing, not an Industrialist but have some skills trained to V also.
Economic and social skills - I have many skills to V.

I have been training some of these skills to V lately, for example the
Broker relations V. THis skill will give a 0.3% off any market order.
Once I researched it, it’s done.
I have zero more skills to train in order to get to pay less taxes overall.

One of my proposal was, is, to convert training time, to Plex conversion…
I don’t need to have more powerful ship, like a Marauder with 500K Ehp
just bc I dont like being ganked… I don’t like being ganked in a hull that costs
1.5B and have a base Ehp which is less than its T1 counterpart…
Now everybody uses Marauders and game is not fun anymore…
Really just make a new skill that gives Marauders extra Ehp with
some special skill set with a 1 year long cue for just lv one…
5 years training for lv V… If a pilot can justify this investment, of time
and Plexes, then go for it…

Contratulations, so you have like 600 Million SP on that character? Nice! Stop training then and train the other two characters on this account! The game doesn’t need to give you more and more skills you like just to keep you skilling and getting more and more powerful.

I am absolutely open to new Skills, but not to skills who even boost existing ships or modules even more in performance. So, if you can come up with ideas for skills that enable us to do new and interesting things, but not give boni to existing modules/ships, go ahead.

We can be sure it will never happen but it’s a mighty good idea you have there. Seriously, it’s one of the best ideas I have ever read in my entire life.
