Playing game on 3840 res, on TV - cannot find the bloody mouse cursor!

Just been reading some of the other threads on this. It is unacceptable for a paid-for software in 2025 for this to be a problem STILL when it was first-flagged to CCP over 5 years ago. Love playing Eve on my 4k TV, but cannot see the bloody mouse-cursor. Unbelievably poor. What is “hard-coded” can be “re-coded” when players vote with their feet, and CCP’s ‘feet are held to the fire’ financially, you may depend upon it. “Hard-coded” in this instance likely means “not profitable to spend time on” until enough players cite it as a reason for leaving, and entry level new players - with new 4k monitors simply de-install it because it unplayable without being able to find the cursor.

This lack of progress on the essentials, is how you kill a game.

Pretty sure not catering to the .00000000000000000000001% of people who play at that resolution isn’t going to kill a game.

Turn on whatever option your OS has to track your mouse location.

Thanks for the suggestion, I have tried that, but it’s not helping. I’m certain I’m far from the only one playing the game on a 4k monitor (TV). I’d be astounded if the figure for those playing at such a res is less than 5%, and it’s only going to increase over time. “.00000000000000000000001%” seems a gross underestimate. I have a 4 year old graphics-card, and it handles the game just fine at that res, and looks great EXCEPT….for the mouse. Players were moaning about this 5 years back. It is utterly unconscionable that this is STILL a problem.

If they can’t change the size of the mouse-cursor, suggestions:

  • Make a hot key that sends the mouse to a known spot, centre-screen so we know where to look for it?
  • Make a hot key that causes the cursor to alternate high-contrast colours
  • Associate a sound with the cursors x/y coordinates on the screen, so we know where to look for the bugger.
  • Associate sounds with the game-window it is over, when hotkey pressed.
  • Cause mouse cursor to migrate to centre screen a few seconds after last use, if so configured.
  • Associate additional graphic around mouse cursor position when hot-key pressed.
  • Hotkey causes cursor to cycle rapidly through player set colours.

I could go on at considerable length. I don’t suggest any of these are “the fix”, but if I can come up with 5 or so plausible changes not reliant in changing the size of the cursor, then frankly, a professional set of coders ought be able to skin this particular cat a number of ways, if properly motivated to do so. This is fundamentally a very simple problem: cursor cannot be enlarged due legacy code. Answer: Make the little ■■■■■■ more obvious in OTHER ways.

What is the actual problem? I am playing for years now on a 4k monitor and never have a problem to find the mouse cursor?
I rather have a (not so big) problem to find out on which monitor of my multimonitor setup it currently is when i want to use it…therefore i just spin a few circles with mouse or move it up and down until my eyes catch the location and from there i’m just working with it. No problems.

Maybe your issue is using a TV instead of a monitor? May it is too aggressively optimizing the picture and filtering out the mouse? Or you sit too far away in TV distance and not monitor distance?

On my TV, the mouse cursor is about 3/16ths of an inch wide and high (about 4mm by 4mm in foreign), as measured at the screen face. No windows setting seems to resolve this that I can find, and I’ve tried everywhere. I can think of. Reading other threads it seems I am far from alone in this. I’m sitting 5 feet from the TV. I’m an old fart now, so my eyesight - and hearing come to that - is not what it once was, but I suspect I’m not alone in that either!

Once I do spot the mouse cursor, it’s more or less ok. Not ideal, but liveable with. The difficulty is finding the little bugger!

so the mouse is wound up in so much old legacy code, ccp can’t do anything about it without possibly killing the hamsters and any other rodents that is keeping the game going.

I just measured my EVE cursor on my 4k monitor and it is the same size 4mm*4mm. I however have no problem finding it and still think your TV is the culprit here. Maybe it has some options available that can make life better for you.

I’ll have a look at that, good tip thanks. Any idea what sort of thing it might be?
