I think PLEX price is too high

I bought myself some PLEXes, waiting for the price to go up so I can get rich.

Every plex spawned, not backed by a customer paying money for it, means CCP is effectively losing income for plex consumed by their customers. As each plex is backed by money from a customer, every plex not backed by a customer must be backed by CCP. Offering plex not backed by a customerā€™s money means CCP is losing income.

In other words:

How it works now:

A player buys 500 plex and pays 20 bucks for them.
CCP spawns 500 plex backed by 20 bucks.
A player consumes these 500 plex and is granted 30 days of game-time.

How you want it to work:

CCP spawns 500 plex out of thin air.
A player consuming these 500 plex means that no one paid for 30 days of game-time.

That means that a player who consumes these 500 plex is not backed by another player who paid 20 bucks for these 500 plex, which means that CCP is offering 30 days of game-time without any income behind it.

Thatā€™s not how one runs a company, because itā€™d be bleeding money.

How much is PLEX in other countries?

Currently in the UK it costs Ā£17 for 500 Plex.

Iā€™d like to compare the exchange rate and purchasing power of the currency across each country.

Perhaps the lack of major conflict in null sec and therefore giving no reason for players to quickly inject isk is part of the problem? Buy PLEX from CCP, turn to isk.

When was the last MAJOR war anyway, 3 or 4 years ago? WWB?

This is:

  • about 10 of the cheapest taxi rides
  • about 6 bottles of average to good beer
  • 4 to 5 business-lunches or 1 real lunch in restaurant

500 plex is about 12 x 330ml bottles here in NZ.

In this tread most of you have whrote about real economy, real market theory and other questions that are really relevant for real life in an effort to understand an share your opinions about the EVE market situation; but there are around 600 posts here that are totally useless except to one thing, to deviate the attention away from the real problem, and the real problem is that EVE is freezing, the demand for PLEX is higher than never because the ISK printing machine is constantly growing, and the PLEX offer is not growing.

The PLEX price is only a symptom, not the problem.

The EVE market is being intervened by CCP constantly.

So , if you think all this is important in some way , consider posting about the real problem.

If this is a problem then:

  • number of players buying PLEX for ISK and consuming should be reduced
  • number of players buying PLEX for RL and selling ingame should be increased

First is simple: people should start to pay with RL for subscription. But this is not acceptable by many. Okey. So we only have second way.

Now the question: how to make people buy PLEX for RL to sell ingame for ISK if the same people do not want to spend lesser summ to subscribe? Basically we need to increase number of rich whales (who already supplying some PLEX to market) or make them by more but how to do it? PLEX is growing and until it stops there is no reason to buy more (why buy today to get X ISK when tomorrow you will sell it for X+Y ISK?). And even then ISK supply in the game is huge so buying ISK with RL is only for special occasions. Reduce supply of ISK ingame you say? But this will be the mirror of current situation: PLEX is expensive and ISK/hour is low.
