You’re right, I was mistaken. It’s up to CCP to lower the cost of their service until everyone in the world can afford it. Doesn’t even matter if they make a profit or not (it’s not like ccp is a business or anything)
Anything less is morally unacceptable isn’t it? Why should some people have more and others less?
That’s bs. Learn a thing or two about society and get off your high horse. Unless you want to start a communist regime, then businesses are allowed to make profit, people are allowed to earn different wages, and democracy is not the devil.
The part that I don’t get is that you can do SO much with an Alpha yet it’s still not good enough and people find something to ■■■■■ about…man I wish I had Alphas years ago…
I also think to games like WoT or WT and the hours I’ve played them mostly for “free”…I don’t know if this is the golden age of online video games but what there is now compared to (even just) 10 years ago…I shake my head…(ps I know there are a lot of other issues with OL-MP these days but please let me leave the rosey glasses on for a bit longer…grandpa needs it)
the players didn’t push this, CCP did. it wasn’t the players that started to say play for free it was CCP.
what the players did next was exactly what they always do, this object is worth a lot of ISK, drive the price of said object up, in this case it’s plex, funny how ya never see a thread created to bang on about how expensive a super is in recent times compared to yesteryear.
so… people are quitting because content (specifically timers and small gang) atm is pretty crap, the wardec system is worse than before and plex is too high.
Cant think of a single reason why ccp might want to intervene…
Plex price is though, in reality, not worth sh#t with the game being the way it is atm.
It is funny to see some people who judge the quality of a player by his hourly wages… funny and pitiful.
PLEX are too high… mostly because players changed. We -old generation- will pay our monthly subscriptions and/or pay in ISK without too much complains, but the new generation of players is born in the free-to-play era. For them, it sound more normal to pay with ingame money (which means exchanging real money by ingame time) but the actual price of PLEX don’t permit that.
We can always talk about the lack of “content” but EVE is mosly a player-generated content system. Less players = less content. So saying that “bad players” (with low wages) can’t play is good, is contradictory if you are asking for more content as the same time. Choose : elitism OR content, not both.
CCP did realize the existence of said new generation, and so decided to add the Alpha status. It would have been a good move… but not only they did bad by adding it BEFORE releasing the “New Player Experience” patch (and so wasted the hype ammo in the bad first impression that most of the new players got from the game, with his badly design tutorial and all), the PLEX has rising up since then as CCP decided to do less frequent offer to buy them (especialy true since Pearl Abyss). CCP scuttled itself…
…and CCP is stuck : they can’t afford to reduce PLEX real price or monthly subscriptions to attract people as it will be a decrease of their revenues, but they can’t add false PLEX ingame to reduce ingame price too.
They want new or old players back in the game, but they can’t act.
We also can think that MMO gaming in general is declining blablabla… but it is not true. The most known MMO games are declining, but EVE has always been a niche game and is still unknown by many.
That’s utter rubbish. If quantity of players drops too much the servers close as it not financially viable. How many mmos have we seen close in the last decade due to lack of quantity.
