Hello. I had a quick question regarding giving my toon away when I stop playing. My hope would be another player would be interested in taking the toon over.
it looks like the only way to do it is a character transfer. My first question would be can either player pay for the transfer or does it have to be me? My first thought was to just change the email address attached to the account and give the account away but apparently this is frowned upon. Not sure why, by either way, the rules are the rules.
It would be nice to think that the toon I’ve spent several years playing would continue on even if I didn’t. My thought was to sell all my possessions in game and when the transfer takes place the new owner would get the toon plus around 28 billion ISK attached to the toon. The issue is I really don’t want to pay for the transfer. Is this a feasible idea, or am I being too sentimental. Also, if there are other options, please let me know. Thank you
You do, but there’s nothing prohibiting the recipient from reimbursing you out of game (assuming you’re giving the character to someone you know).
It’s not just frowned upon. It’s a bannable offense.
It’s nonnegotiable, I’m afraid.
None that I know of. However, a bit of advice: Unless you are dead positive that you’ll never want to play EVE again, you might want to hang on to the character. A lot of players find that after a break (short or long), they have a renewed interest in returning to the game. Over the last 16 years I’ve taken several breaks for one reason or another. Coming back, I would have hated having to start over with a new character.
Years ago, it used to be X amount of plex or $20 USD, then CCP changed it to just $20. If you want to get rid of it do it but Id say keep it and even if you leave it with a decent bankroll and a few ships youll come back in a good spot. I left for 1.5 years after playing for 1.5 years and had to reroll Eternus to play.
Thanks for the input. Unfortunately, I play solo so I really don’t know anybody in-game, so the payment negotiation would be based on trust and luck.
As for if I’m sure, my thought is I’ve been yo-yoing since I started playing the game, I would pay for a month of Omega and by the end of the month I would loose interest and not play for months and months before I come back. Recently, I decided to make a real effort to keep interested. I decided to start plexing omega to give me a goal in-game. This made me change my style of play and kept me interested for a while. The issue is, as I improved as a player and in making ISK, now plexing omega is not a reason to login and play. I’m already Omega for 6 months and I have the ISK to plex a year if I want. So I’m back to loosing interest.
Having said that, if I keep the toon, in 6 months or so, I’ll be back playing again and once again loose interest. So, I feel removing the “easy” option of returning will make me move to other games and have new experiences. Just how I think.
The major issue for me is the way I play. I prefer single player RPGs so that’s how I play EVE. I think I just need evolving storylines and a more personalized experience to keep me interested. I don’t mind the grind if it opens a new area on a map, or progresses a story. EVE is a sandbox MMO so that’s not what’s it designed to do.
Again, thank you for the advice. I still have 4 months of Omega left, so maybe I’ll stew on it for a while to see if my opinion changes.
Kind of defeats the whole purpose of my original question. I don’t need advice on quitting the game. I’m already an expert. The question was how to keep Maximus Raaz immortal. Good try though.
