Regarding the Intaki Exodus

Capsuleers,

Across the void, beyond the noise of contracts and allegiance, there arise moments that test the measure of what we truly are.

This is such a moment.

In the wake of recent developments, the Caldari State has asserted sovereignty and now calls upon us, the free capsuleers of New Eden, to pursue and destroy Intaki capital ships fleeing toward Gallente space. This action is presented as necessity, as order, as justice.

Yet we ask you to look more closely.

These vessels are not merely instruments of a fractured Syndicate. They bear civilians, workers, families, lives that never chose this conflict, now rendered vulnerable within it. They are lives reduced to consequence in a political struggle not of their making.

The State, unwilling to stain its own hands with the blood of innocents, extends this burden to us instead, outsourcing not only the act, but the moral weight that follows.

We ask you to consider what this makes of us.

Are we to be mercenaries without conscience, executioners in service to causes we did not choose?

The Intaki Syndicate is not without flaw. It carries its share of contradiction and fault. Yet imperfection does not justify eradication. It does not warrant the targeting of vessels carrying the defenseless. It does not legitimize an imperial claim advanced under the guise of stability.

We, as capsuleers, are more than instruments of state power.

We are, in these moments, the final arbiters between authority and those it would otherwise silence without witness.

Therefore, we appeal to you, not as partisans, nor as adversaries, but as independent minds and sovereign pilots:

Stand down from this pursuit.

Refuse contracts that would turn you against the defenseless.

If you would go further, then stand in their defense. Escort those who flee. Shield those who cannot shield themselves. Bear witness where others would look away.

Let it be known that there remain those among us who will not exchange conscience for profit.

The history of New Eden is written in fire, yet it is remembered by those who, in its darkest hours, chose restraint over destruction.

Be those capsuleers.

Stand for the innocents.

Stand for conscience.

Stand for something greater than the next contract.

Why are these capital and supercapital warships fleeing?

The State has harmed absolutely no-one, and is commited to the well-being and prosperity of the people of Syndicate. We have proven our good will throughout the years during which we safeguarded the Syndicate from foreign incursion.

So why exactly are these “innocents” fleeing so desperately? And why are they doing so in warships of this scale?

People do not abandon certainty for the void without cause. When sovereignty is asserted without invitation, and futures are decided without those who must live them, departure becomes the only remaining choice.

You call it goodwill. Those beneath it may experience it differently.

As for the ships, in moments of upheaval, people do not choose symbols, they take what will carry them to safety. A capital hull is not intent, it is refuge.

If no harm has been done, then ask why so many prefer the unknown to what is offered.

Protection that must be fled from is not experienced as protection.

I have to say I really have no idea what is going on, exactly.
I havn’t seen any proof that the Syndicate is guilty of the crimes at Jita, and we have no proof that the ships are just carrying refugees either.

I havn’t seen any evidence that Intaki are being run out of their homes en masse and that the systems are being put under direct military occupation nor have I heard that they are being left alone.

So far, the silence is deafening on what is really going on and with various capsuleers posting all kinds of interpretations it’s really difficult to get at the truth.

Which makes the request to shoot at these Syndicate ships feel more like a test of loyalty then anything else. Absent facts, who’se side are you on, if any?

My gut feeling is that this is just an extension of the Faction War, if I assume that these Syndicate ships will be joining the Federation Fleet assets either as direct assets or as allied assistance.

We have no proof that they’re carrying refugees, period. What we do have is proof they were carrying around all the ingredients for a good time.

I enjoy zooming around in my luxury vehicle while consuming inadvisable amounts of booze and watching holos as much as any gallentean, but these things would not be my top priority as a refugee. The stash of guns I can see a point in bringing along, of course, but the actual refugees the Syndicate are supposedly evacuating seem to have been conspicuously left behind.

I don’t doubt these are genuine Syndicate property being evacuated from their former stations, but I would have thought a supposed refugee fleet would be carrying some actual refugees, too.
