as mentioned before, people have been asking for new ships for a while, sleeper ships and such.

I mean hell, if you’re not going to allow us to fit ships like that, then we should be able to completely highjack NPC ships.

the only way to get a sleeper ship would be to high jack it in space.

I once suggested a triglavian style weapon which could be used to kill a capsuleer inside their ships by “genetic mutation” and some kind of timer use, something like that though would have to have a further PVP element, so truthfully it would be OP as hell and heavily abused, however if it means getting new models for a ship in a round about way, that would be pretty sweet.

consider, if you will, the absolute OP nature of players jacking hisec drifter ships. Complete with their doomsday weapons?

which then begs the question, where do we get the skillbooks to be able to fly such things?

A slight downside of this rather poorly thought out idea of yours is the complete collapse of all industry in the game.

If i could jack a Drifter Response Battleship to use or sell rather than killing it for the ISK300m, I’m 100% going to do that.

A 6km/s, hard hitting with exceptionally good tracking, brick tanked Battleship capable of webbing and scramming at 100km and with the kind of neuts that would put a Bhaalgorn to shame? Sign me up. Every other ship in the game is now obsolete.

Null blocs would invade c5/6 space en-mass and we’d see fleets of thousands of the things inside a month.

No mining, no construction, no build times…

Think about these ideas of yours just for half a second.

my point was more regarding the making use of assets in game and creating new content without flooding the game with new blueprints, there is such a thing of over saturation, yes i did think about that, but i had to attend RL stuff and didn’t have time to finish off my post as I would of liked.

my approach was more to find a way of making use of existing assets on grid and allow people to engage with existing content in new ways.

there would obviously have to be requirements and could easily be applied to omega only, but that’s not for me to decide, i’m not going to speculate on a speculation.

And for the third time I ask:
Please give me an example of this marvellous concept of yours.
Knock up what you envisage as a “retrofit build” and post it, along with some detail on the role you expect it to fill and why its a viable option.

Because, frankly, all i see is a method to badly fit ships in new and interesting ways.

but those new an interesting ways could lead to discussions within the community and perhaps new fits entirely created, which then could be submitted and become limited run ships released in FW or perhaps other events in the game, meaning something as simple as fitting a ship could help you build your rep in the game, creates community driven content / self driven content.

Could start out by allowing players to “fake” their ship. So it looks like a Cruiser, on dscan, overview, and in the 3D scene, but its actually a frigate.

well that would be something to do with mass, Dscan and hacking the communications network.

love the idea, but not sure how that would work in game, isn’t there some kind of decoy beacon or something which creates ghost images of ships already?

If you can’t come up with an example, then I don’t really see the point in continuing the discussion.
