"safe dueling" option needs to be added to the game" get with the program CCP

I think CCP is doing a GREAT job!

You’re asking for safe mode in a full loot full PvP game, and think other’s are the problem?

you come up with an idea, everyone thinks it’s terrible so you resort to insults. Are you a child?

well of course, they want their ship to not go boom, and lose isk when hitting another ship..

It’s called declaring war on a highsec newb corp and shooting their refineries.

See I was thinking something other than the d-bag route…

You don’t have to kill the refineries though, just push them into reinforce? It’s up to you to be a douche about it.

Dueling is already in the game.

What you’re asking for isn’t dueling, but a form of safety that is both anathema to the core concept of the game and wide open to abuse. I just duel my freighter alt and now he’s immune to ganks due to spacemagic? Get real, obvious non-starter.

If you want to duel without popping, do it with a friend and simply agree to stop shooting when someone hits some predetermined level of hull damage. The vast majority of Eve 1v1s are not a straight DPS race, anyway, and the “victor” is usually apparent early in the fight.

Please tell me how ‘refineries’ can reflect stats of a ship fit with rigs, armor/shield mods, HP, and also return fire with stats and offensive mods and ammo of a ship?

Shooting a ‘refinery’ would, in no way whatsoever, act as a Battleship, or say, an Orca, or any other ship you are wanting to test your theories on.

WoW training dummies don’t do that either.
Sounds like what you want is to duel an alt.

Use the cheapest t1 gear in the cheapest t1 ship. The mechanics translate up to better, more expensive gear as you get better. If you do this with friends in the existing duel mechanic, you can agree on a stop point. A pair of t1 fit t1 ships aren’t going to kill each other fast enough that you can’t use any hull damage as a stop point. You can make this agreement with randos, too, and some will accept it. Just mark the ones that destroy you anyway with a bad standing and buy a new cheap practice ship, never dueling with them again.

would have to make it an in station only thing. simulator VR battle mode or something so people couldn’t abuse it out in ‘actual’ space

practice mode yeah… theres a difference.

no point in dueling if you can lose your ship… that defeats the whole purpose. its completly useless.

Aaron Burr never whined about losing ships.
