out of curiosity, the fountain pack has close to 400 bookmarks. are all of these just perches off gates?

That’s correct. Cloud Ring + Fountain. Those links are the DOTLAN maps.
Fountain especially has a lot of systems/connections.
A system like YZ-LSL is connected to 6 other systems, for example.
All those stargates add up pretty quick, but yes, all bookmarks are perches off gates.

Regarding your comment that it takes 2 minutes to burn 500 km, it takes less than a minute to make a starburst of 7 bookmarks at 1000 km.
Using probes probably would have sped this up quite a bit.
