Why are shield boosters unpleasant to activate?

This booster relaxes a pilot’s ability to control certain shield functions, among other things. It creates a temporary feeling of euphoria that counteracts the unpleasantness inherent in activating shield boosters, and permits the pilot to force the boosters to better performance without suffering undue pain. - Blue Pill Booster

because of the way that the capsule itself hijacks your character’s brain and proprioception to give the character control of the ship they’re using, some of the methods for activating certain modules triggers a unpleasant sensations and/or pain in the process of doing so.
