Coming back from a few year break and Ive noticed two of my identical ships have different visuals. One has pretty well worn paint and rust visuals and the other is pretty well pristine.
So my question is, when did this become a feature and what causes ships to get this veterancy look?
Time in space/unpacked affects that. You also get little killmarks on the ship for whenever you kill another player in it.
If you look at the fitting window, you will see a button at the below left which allows you to clean your ship, if you wish.

To further clarify, the button is on the left when you have the slide open to see the ship skins that you can activate on your ship.
