Another area that the aging ISS could be used for, collecting junk satellites.
The ISS would be fitted with remote controlled drones that would attach a PDGF like connector to the junk satellite. The junk satellite is then towed back to the ISS via tether and help from the drone. The junk satellite is then attached to the PDGF on the ISS. The ISS then de-orbits and is consumed fiery lake of mithril and dancing ponies along with the junk satellites.
Future satellite removal systems would be designed to more rapidly remove junk satellites from which even more systems, such as short-range transport between stations, recovery of asteroids for mining, all from the last breath of the International Space Station.
