👁️👁️ SKINR / SKIN design showcase - show off the ones that you like

o/

I’ve run across a combination of patterns (I believe it is the patterns) that produce an active color change on a variety of ship hulls. Some hulls have a dramatic color change, and a few hulls seem entirely unaffected.

The Talos shows this:

As you can clearly see the yellow does not appear at all in the first photo.

To manipulate the color change, you simply use your “scroll”. When the ship hull is visually closer the yellow disappears. When it is at a distance the yellow color manifests. You can see the change happen on screen.

I have listed this Talos skin in the Paragon Hub, at an outrageous price, so everyone who’s interested can get a chance to see it, and the effect, for themselves.

I have this effect currently on an Enyo hull in station. The color change pattern seems to be unique to the ship hull, if the hull is capable of supporting the effect.

I have not tried producing multiple copies of the same skin, to see if the pattern varies, by that I mean the color change pattern will be unique to each skin created for a particular hull.

The effect on the Algos, well see for yourselves:

On the Enyo, in station, the color fade looks like the exterior of a Roman temple.

So, the area affected is unique to each ship capable of this phenomenon.

What do you think? A bug? An unintended side effect? Emergent gameplay in the sequencing market?

lol.

a/o Jan 10th 2025, I was advised by the senior GM responding, this color change is currently categorized/believed to be a bug, and I was asked to bug report it. I have filed a bug report.

Having written all that, I have discovered, in the interval, there is a much wider set of conditions, than I outlined here, that will allow for these active color change patterns.

2nd Edit: After having filed the bug report, I received another communication from the senior GM. Support is not saying this is a bug per se; but felt it more rightly should be “bug reported” so those individuals who can make such decisions have access to all the info available.
