a few very simple quality of life changes im surprised ccp has not thought of implementing in the last 20 years…..
1 : introduce colour coding for the entities in ur overview, let us select and highlight various types of objects in our overview in different colours for their characters… for example npc hostiles red, wrecks and lootable objects green, grey when looted or empty, gates and transfers orange etc etc
2 : let us create tabs in our cargo or inventory and sort our stuff into various compartments or tabs, for example things we use frequently while in combat or missioning in the first tab …..instead of having to sort through or look for in a mountain of junk everytime….. add the ability to name those tabs…..
3rd might be game breaking but if possible can u add action bars or tool bars to the ui?
and the ability to add anything to these tool bars, like if i want to turn repper on, or stop my ship, or fire all weapons or use a certain item in my cargo like filaments or activate a cloak or
i know these things already have their buttons or keys but i would like a single customisable toolbar with 10 or 15 action boxes like every mmorpg out there….to consolidate everything and rule them all…..so i can literally play the entire game with just a single toolbar
of course there are a few other things that would greatly improve qol , like for example a dps meter in game that measures the dps of everything attacking u and ranks them from most critical to least dangerous but lets not ask for too much
This feature already exists, and is even on by default. Try setting some random people on grid blue, and watch the overview reflect that.
You can use containers for this, and I imagine most people already do. Station containers won’t fit in your ship, of course, and in the ship you’ll lose out on some valuable cargo space because the smaller containers aren’t very space-efficient. I do prefer your version though, you could even add some filters, for example so I can easily click “Ammo” to show only ammo (and ammo-adjacent things I guess, such as drones and probes), or “Modules”, “Ore”, “Invention components”, “Salvage”, etc.
Being able to group modules other than just weapons would be nice, probably not super difficult to implement since we can already group weapons, and shouldn’t break anything/make the game easier to bot.
im pretty sure u cant assemble containers in ur ship unless they changed that years ago?
and i dont want to just label allies or friendlies in overview i want colours for lots of other important things in overview i would like to distinguish and differentiate and identify quickly without poring through the list everytime….. its really kind of annoying to look for conduit or cache or nodes when u can just scroll through and look for orange or green and just lock or head towards them knowing what those colours are in ur mind or even introduce colour coding for different types of npcs that u can set up before u go into anything so u know what to pay attention to or lock first instead of sorting through everything or accidentally locking or heading towards the wrong thing….
for example this time u encounter these npcs a few battleships a few tacklers and a few vamps, u just right click them and assign a colour to their font or letters and the next time they appear again u dont have to verify anything……u see red or gold or neon orange u know right away they are battleships or tacklers or vamps.
its about making everything prearranged so u dont even have to think about it….go in boop boop boop
oh i forgot one more qol improvement.
make a ingame warning before u jump a gate or enter an acceleration gate, a warning pops up that u still have drones deployed….nothing p me off like forgetting drones, even if u remember 97% of times, the times u forgot probably adds up to dozens maybe even a hundred times by now. i think i forget drones at least once every 30 abyssal transfers …..
3: Do you even play the game? Want your repper on, press the button. Want to stop, press the button. The customizable toolbar has up to 24 slots in Eve, it’s called the HUD.
I just wanted to reply along the same lines to the OP…try to drag and drop your modules around…you can move and place them as you wish in the HUD…and also group weapons in case you didn’t know that, which i highly suspect.
A similar thing goes for grouping of your cargohold…everyone would be using containers if there was a need for this. Now people usually use containers for other things and this is really disturbing for me that you also seemingly don’t know, because if you would know you wouldn’t even ask your question. Please go ahead and check the volume and the capacitor attributes of the containers and you will find a difference, allowing you to enhance the carrying capacity of your ship.
