State of the Union: Factional Warfare & Frontlines

Easier!
Make it easier!
Why are you making things so complicated?

Easier means the meta will be solved within a week and be boring, complicated leaves us making new strategies for months.

Lot’s to explore to test to discover.

Nothing wrong with only dedicating yourself to 1 aspect of the new fw and leaving the rest then it itself would be easier for you at least.

Maybe finally someone will fly a Skybreaker now… but the ship is balanced (in contrast to the Worm), while it tanks a lot it’s directed DPS is pretty low.

100dps with 10 bounces is 1000 dps thou tbh lol. Would be cool if they upped the dps and reduced the bounces thou.

170 dps 3 bounces >>

Yeah… best case calculation… worst case calculation is 50dps at range against one target.

It’s too early to tell what exactly they’re doing with FW, but the perception I’ve gotten thus far is “more complexes for the farmers and botters, and a donation system to “feed the war effort” that will hopefully act as an additional money/resource sink because 97.4% of our game’s population now consists of people who want to do nothing but grind PvE all day.”

From what I could tell the rewards are being split in 2, 1 the normal lp the other is the investment currency which we can invest back into the system. I remember them saying this awhile ago so we wont have to farm it separately.

What’s the current incentive to shoot players versus just farming plexes?

Honor / fun / lp bounty I guess but most people just run currently.

This is going to be just like WoW’s “warfront contribution” quest grind. Basically “give up 20 steel bars in exchange for some faction rep” ■■■■■■■■ that’s just there to give value to the rest of the economy.

All of these companies are following the same formula because developer creativity has long ago been replaced with boardroom financial telemetry, and you people are falling for it hook, line, and sinker.

FW should’ve been nothing but a universe-wide, open war between the empires that rewards all participants with increased yields, bounties, and tax breaks. Instead, you’re getting pseudo-instanced PvP zones and “turn in the bear pelt” quests from the innkeeper. Enjoy.

What does that look like? You have a hard enough time tracking down people participating in faction warfare as it is, and now you want to spread it across the entire galaxy?

The universe is too wide as it is now no-body fights everyone farms and run’s. Concentrating the rewards to a spot where they have to fight will at least make it better.

It depends how they do it:

If its 1 quest at a time go fetch this then that is terrible.

If it’s this is the list of supplies we need and we value these items at this lp/system advantage value (changes) and you haul a ■■■■ ton in just before going full agressive on a system to tip the scales then that would be much better.

First option would be more like wow and the 2nd is more like eve.

@ CCP One request please change the complex timers so that if everyone that was ticking a timer down warps out that timer resets back to the mid point, that also means the aggressor does not start with a huge timer added on.

Hopefully this will add 1 more thought process to someone farming and running as that running will now cost them.

I think you guys are misinterpreting what I’m suggesting.

No more complexes.
No more “PvP zones.”
No more NPC police chasing you around the moment you step into an enemy’s region.
No more standings losses.

FW should just be an high/low-sec wide, NPC-driven war declaration system. Corporations/alliances choose a side, and enroll, just like they do today. Individual players can join an NPC corporation, just like they do today.

Everyone who joins gets the benefit of considerably increased yields, increased bounties, and lower NPC taxes, in exchange for effectively putting themselves into a voluntary wardec with thousands of other players. The reward benefits scale up in line with the contribution of each individual player according to the amount of damage they do to the enemy (e.g. ship and station destruction), so that some Jita market alt can’t reap the benefits of a lower tax rate just by enrolling into the system and never undocking.

I’m intentionally saying “boost the participants” instead of “tax the non-participants,” because even if the net effect is the same, players will perceive getting their income taxed as a nerf, while a boost for participants will be perceived as a buff, even though the difference in the effective competitive advantage would be the same. A lesson learned from CCP’s improper marketing of scarcity.

That sounds amazing but if it was like that only 0.1% of the server would actually join it most people are sh it scared of wardeck’s.

That system would only work for the elites and true vet’s who don’t need a “safe space”.

That’s perfectly fine with me. I’ll take advantage of the increased financial opportunities that they won’t. Besides, no one does FW as is anyway.

The more people who join the more people their will be to shoot at, baby steps maybe there is a way to transition into what you are thinking.

Except the vast majority of players don’t actually want to be interacting in unplanned PvP.

The Theme Park model of MMOs necessitates keeping some people away from others, and vocal capsuleers don’t want that.

I’d rather try CCP’s way of doing it than your way. I mean, a whole ton of FW players actually got together and STATED that they wanted something like a frontline system in place, so I’ll kinda believe them over you.
