Suggestion for new player acquisition and retention

I have recently brought 4 new/returning players to eve and we are have been having a lot of fun the last months. I do not push them but offer many playstyles so they can choose later on where they want to go. None of them are interested to work as a slave for you in your failure of a nullsec empire.

This game is old and ackward. Getting everyone skilled without knowledge and dumped at the endgame will end up destroying the connection people have with the game and make people quit faster.

You need ideas to make people stay longer. But I guess you ‘did your best’ and I respect you doing some random half assed effort.

I do not have any empire, nullsec or other. Please, if you’re going to poke, at least know what you’re talking about.

It’s hard to be a miner and it hasn’t been long since I started playing this game.

100m sp?

100 million skillpoints?!?!?!?!

I have played this game since 2007.
I have never once had a character with anything even close to 100m SP.

You sir, are out of touch.

Honestly make skilling spree permanent, it encourages you to log in and play the game.

In what crack induced reality is that? We have been watching people like you come and go for years, they all say the same things.

You’ve been playing 13 years and haven’t hit 100m sp?
If anything, that makes my point more valid. You’ve spent over a decade at this game.
It appears a lot of you mistakenly think I am suggesting ccp give new players 100m so.
I’m not. As my post states, I am simply suggesting speeding up so acquisition for the First 100m. They’d still need to log in and play for a significant amount of time to reach that point.
My suggestions give them activities to do daily to speed the beginning process up. Perhaps 100m is too lofty. 30m or 50m would work too. The point is to be able to fly all the ships faster, so they could enjoy more content faster.

I was attempting to point out how absurd the notion is of giving a crutch to players under 100 mil SP in light of the fact that you have a 2007 player here telling you he never felt the need to have so many skillpoints on one character.

Laughably absurd.

Noted.
While I enjoy multiple alts as well, it is an outdated idea to require multiple alts. There has to be enough value to warrant the cost.
Just to be sure, since I’ve already been insulted because trolls project such notions, this isn’t about a single person being fine with how things are.
With how things are, Eve loses more players than it gains. Even with the gains, keeping people is even harder. One massive reason is the time-gate to high end content. People spend valuable time on a video game, and aren’t properly rewarded for that investment. Life is busy. There are a thousand other things to spend time on.
That needs to be acknowledged, or the previous trend will continue. We’ll keep losing more players than we gain. No matter how many alts people make, you can’t deny that there are fewer people online than when you started.
If you deny that, you’re a liar.

Of course, another deterrent to player retention is the very attitudes that have been on display here.
Some of you’d rather see this game die than adapt to the current world. I’ve seen it in so many previous games, and it always makes me sad. Change or disappear. That’s how it works in the entertainment industry.

Already been tried. It had the opposite effect.

So the common denominator in failed games is you?

Interesting…

Yes. I alone made video games die. Not the loss of new blood. Not stagnant communities, not stagnant content. Me.
Get real.

Deliberately ironic?

No evidence to suggest new players aren’t sticking around because they can’t get into capitals.

No evidence to suggest new players aren’t sticking around due to interaction with other players. On the contrary new players that interact with the community stick around longer.

By stagnant content, do you mean the stagnation caused by capital warfare? The very thing you’re trying to promote more of?

Be honest with yourself. Or in your words,

Yeahh, this kinda thing just loses all its punch once you realize that people have been saying that ‘EVE must change if it is to last’ crap since 2003.

Respectfully, sir, you can take your ‘blah blah games are different now’ talk and shove it.

Oh, do we make you sad there, little entitled snow-flake? Does our countering of your ill-argumented and unfounded ideas make you have a lumpy throat and watery eyes? Do… you you need a tissue for your issue?

Except, of course, that Eve retains less than 30% of new players. That isn’t evidence of anything at all.

And this is why you’ve provided actual evidence to support the claim that YOUR idea, specifically, can help with this. Instead of just rhetorical ■■■■ you pulled out of your ass, right?

I honestly didn’t even think about that when I posted my reply. Course CCP would probably love having another way to squeeze more money out of the playerbase.
