Hello CCP Team,
I’d like to offer some additional feedback regarding the Servant Sisters of EVE (SSOE) and, in particular, the performance and balance of the Astero within their current lineup. I also think they need new ships. As a long-time player who enjoys the challenges of wormhole exploration, I have noticed that the SSOE have been largely neglected for 5+ years, and their limited ship options are increasingly outclassed in modern wormhole gameplay.
I want to highlight two key areas for improvement:
• Modernizing the SSOE Lineup for Wormhole Engagements:
– The current SSOE vessels lack the versatility and specialized roles required for the demanding environment of wormhole space—especially for solo operations in C5 sites. Especially on the combat side of things, it just doesn’t make sense that a faction that is settled in wormhole space does not have a ship that can effectively clear all wormhole sites. And fro exploration, many players rely on covert ops ships to efficiently handle scanning, and rapid escapes.
– A dedicated SSOE ship designed with modern wormhole challenges in mind could offer a balance of power, agility, and fitting flexibility, and would provide a valuable alternative to the higher-cost options currently used in wormhole combat (marauders are the only real C5 wormhole clearers here).
• Buffing the Astero to Remain Competitive:
– At present, the Astero is significantly outclassed by several covert ops ships in terms of exploration, scanning, and escape. Vessels such as the Anathema, Helios, Buzzard, Metamorphosis, and Cheetah offer far more cost-effective fits, superior scan strength bonuses (up to 50% in some cases), and additional advantages.
– It’s important to note that the Metamorphosis, often compared with Tech II covert ops, its extreme cost efficiency (45m ISK in JITA) and unique attributes—including a mobile depot bay, 37.5% reduction to scan deviation and innate +2 warp core strength—make it a compelling exploration option. Remember, even though the metamorphosis doesn’t have many mid slots or low slots, you don’t need them. You already have scan deviation bonuses and built in warp core strength.
– Enhancing the Astero—whether through improved scanning capabilities, warp core strength boosts, additional fitting slots, or a similar suite of bonuses—would help it remain a viable option for pilots who prefer the SSOE aesthetic and want a dedicated vessel that isn’t easily outmatched by other covert ops ships. By the way, is there is a reason why the Stratios shouldn’t be able to fit an interdiction nullifier?
• Community Involvement and Tactical Viability:
– Feedback from the community indicates that many pilots, especially those engaged in wormhole exploration and solo PvE/PvP, are disappointed with the current SSOE options. A refreshed ship lineup that addresses these concerns—particularly a “slippery” (it means to be able to escape easily, like a bar of soap on a wet floor) and tactically viable vessel for solo C5 operations—would resonate strongly with the player base. It doesn’t have to be cheap if you’re not going to die in it.
I greatly appreciate the dedication and hard work that CCP continues to invest in EVE Online. My hope is that the SSOE—a faction so closely tied to the mystique of wormhole space—can finally receive renewed attention. By modernizing their ship lineup and enhancing vessels like the Astero, you would not only support a broader range of gameplay styles but also reaffirm EVE’s commitment to delivering diverse and engaging experiences for all players.
Thank you for considering this feedback. I look forward to seeing how EVE Online evolves and hope that these suggestions help reinvigorate the SSOE and their presence in New Eden (more specifically wormholes and Thera, the SSOE home).
Fly safe,
