T1 Mining Crystals vs T2 Mining Crystals

Hi all. I am trying to determine if it is worth using T2 crystals over t1. Taking simple crystals as an example the A’s seem to have a small yield modifier, but are used quicker with an element of residue

and the B’s, pretty much the same with a small cycle time difference too.

I cannot see an overall massive advantage of using T2 over T1

with solely the number you have here, it seems obvious T2 si worth.

T1 8.8

T2 9.5

(with real crystals it’s 9.1 to 12.3 so +35%)

Now … what could make them not worth ? The cost ! if the T2 costs more than they bring then they are not worth using.

simple asteroid mining crystal type B II

1Hp
takes 19.6% of 0.05 Hp per cycle, that is 100/19.6/0.05×1 = 102 cycles to break.

In those 102 cycles, it will produce 1.8 / 1.5 = 20% more ore. If those 20% more is worth less than the value of a lens, you should not use it.

on a procurer with T1 this is 1500 m³ unboosted

then you multiply by the isk/m³ of the ore you are mining.

thanks for the response, ill read through it to see if i can “get it”, maths was never my strong suit

In my opinion, if you’re using crystals, only one number matters. Yield.

Yes it is.

Can it be that you mistakenly interpret “residue” as “loss chance” (in yield)? That is not the case, the residue value is deducted from the roid, not from your mining amount.
