The game stopped running on Linux systems after a recent update. It does not run on Steam, PortProton, Star wine and Linux Wine. Solve the problem with running the game on linux
delete the launcher folder 1.10 so steam is forced to run the old launcher 1.9
this is a temporary fox that confirmed works
I had some issues over the last few days. I had to switch in steam to proton 9 when experimental had worked before. Also had to switch to directx11. If the launcher comes up, hit play and give it a few minutes, Wait be patient the client will open up. Happen to me. Just sat there and it just started to work.
we can help ourselves, thank you. we dont need your advice.
for all others
issue is resolved in Eve Launcher on Linux (Lutris) not working after launcher update 5/08/2025 - #22 by RaidoN_Crendraven
role back to older launcher by deleting 1.10.x and replace it with 1.9.4
ā¦and back to the topic
I currently run Eve using āBottlesā and it stopped working after the launcher update as well. Deleting the app-1.10.0 folder worked there too (~/.var/app/com.usebottles.bottles/data/bottles/bottles/EVE/drive_c/users/$USER/AppData/Local/eve-online/)
I used to use Lutris but could not get it working under teh previous version moved to Bottles (I could get it working); does anyone have an idiots guide to getting EVE Running under Lutris please?
Deleting folder app-1.10.0 worked here on Mint 21 and a straight Steam installation of EVE.
Launcher 1.9.4 works fine, just like EVE itself.
I am also having this issue. Canāt get any version of proton working with it today. What an earth did they do to break the launcher so hard.
False Alarm
Trying this on steam deck now.
edit: Oh my giddy giddy gosh, it looks like itās working. I say looks like because Iām not certain yet, itās re-downloading everything, but the launcher opened and thatās not nothing
edit edit: You big damn hero youāve saved my life

Also if anyone needs help with linux the people who run the discord for eve-o are offering to help anyone who needs it. If you come to their discord and get into the help-linux channel they will offer help even if not related to their program.
I donāt see a help-linux channel.
Didnāt work for me. Followed instructions on another thread to download the 1.9 launcher and manually copy it into the Eve Online directory. Click Play in Steam, I never see a window having to do with Eve, and it quietly crashes.
Adding ā%command% -dx11ā to Launch Options didnāt work. Still doesnāt launch.
EDIT: I finally got it to work by deleting the 1.10 launcher. I had only renamed it and copied in the 1.9 version. I guess it was still trying to run the 1.10 version. Also, donāt forget to change the DirectX version to 11.
After you join the discord you have to select your operating system. If you pick linux that channel will show
How and where would you do this? I donāt see an input field anywhere for this as well as i donāt see any channels like āhelp-ā¦ā
EDIT: Nevermindā¦these channels are not on the official EVE discord server, but on eve-tools.net discord server.
Still strangeā¦so these folks exclude you from using more than one operating system for EVE at the same time. Doesnāt make sense to me. I used to run Clients in Windows parallel to Linux as well as i do now start up a Windows system when i have problems on linux to verify if they exist on windows as well and then try to transplant the fix to Linux. Makes no sense to separate access to channelss like this at all.
It does make sense! Solutions to fix problems with linux will not do much of anything for issues with windows. So people who use windows might not be the least bit interested in stuff related to linux or MacOS.
You can pick windows and linux and mac if you like and then see those other help channels
I know people with mixed setups and also have used such a setup in the past, rendering your argument void.
Others use Linux at home and windows at work or elsewhere when visiting.
EDIT: okā¦if you can pick all at once, then it would be ok. But there is a message on the discord telling that this was introduced to reduce spamā¦so i suppose you can switch but not select all three at once, otherwise this thing would be useless.
Damn ccp you kidding me, it was going perfectly and i paid another month of omega, and the next day the client crashes and i cannot play
