The Grand Heist - Now Live!

I just recently did the NPE on a new character and I think I know why.

You can’t see anything in space, the screen view is blocked by windows popping up all over the place and the view is zoomed out all the way.

I think a new player trying out Eve wants to see some action happening on the screen, not do a bunch of clicking on the Overview with Aura in a window blocking the screen. Also the NPE doesn’t say anything about looting the wrecks.

Basically CCP needs to drop the ‘Spreadsheets In Space’ mentality and have the screen zoomed in so new players can actually see the NPC’s and the space scene, not have the view zoomed out and blocked with a bunch of windows. They also need to implement better Overview and Neocom settings, their initial set-up is very lacking.

I got that notification in my Notification feed just now… What is the point of it if it does nothing? Why does this notification not open the Agency’s ESS tab with the Reserve Bank filter setup? Why do I have to do these steps myself?

Other similar noticiations like PLEX time donations, corp characters biomassing, sov attacks, structure attacks, etc all open relevant parts of the UI. Why is this very relevant and very conflict focused notification not doing anything?

The point is that it notifies you of active robbers in the region. That’s it.

The notification does not tell you exactly where the robbers are and does not kill those robbers for you either. It’s up to you to find them yourself and stop them.

If you see the ping, gather a group of players, search the region where they might be, go there and fight.

The agency tells you anyway which RB was unlocked. That’s a moot point. That this notification does not simply open the agency in the ESS tab adds nothing positive to the entire experience. All it adds is more unnecessary busy work and clicks through a convoluted UI – wasted time essentially that you could spend gathering your guys to counterattack.

Another fun experience, especially if you live in a region with multiple entities. Somewhere in the ass end of my region that I have no interest in someone opened an ESS RB. Sure, I could turn the notification off but then I’d not see when someone does that in an area that I do care about. Could we please get a range limiter for these notifications? The Agency can and should still show all unlocked RBs but the notifications should only show up if an ESS is unlocked within a certain range (region, 20,10,5 jumps, constellation, the usual range filters) to prevent this obnoxious spam. The spam was and still is an issue with the ESS MB anyway. I don’t need even more spam from a faraway area.

N+1 is coordinated outside of the Eve Client, CCP can’t prevent it and tbh, the main hook for me in any MMO is the social side and I’d wager that’s the same for many other null sec line members. Some of my best times have been chilling on comms whlst station spinning or with rorqs out etc. Try to remove that and the pop will really take a hit.

Give null sec a try, you could join any of the big alliances within a day or 2 to get a better understanding of what it’s really like. Null sec is not your enemy.

Do you think over 14 years in nulsec is enough to get an “understanding of what it’s like” ?
Been in most of the major alliances over the years, which is why I’ve been saying (for years) CCP should address the mechanics surrounding nulsec game play.
You’re right, N+1 is coordinated outside Eve and that should in itself be enough reason for CCP to make that meta less useful or even better redundant.
No nulsec isn’t the enemy, the meta gaming associated with it is.

N+1 is the result of weak AOE options. Nothing else. If you could fight 10v100 and win, with equal per ship investment, purely based on choice of weapons and strategy, N+1 wouldn’t exist.

The blue donut exists because players have everything to gain and nothing to lose by NOT fighting.

Both of these CCP could change. They choose not to.

That is EXACTLY what I feel is EvE’s current issue… they went for the shiney big numbers and lost focus. Most of us that are currently unsubbed and refusing to log in are doing so because something we enjoyed was altered into something we don’t enjoy anymore, so we voted with our feet. I’ve been playing alot of single player games and a couple with multiplayer options in them but NO MMO’s at all because most are boring and unappealing to me. EvE wasn’t boring, it wasn’t unappealing… but it is at the moment… the question of WHY that is the case needs answering and how they learn that is by asking those of us who left… when we tell them they tell us “you’re wrong” and “if you don’t like it you can leave” like CCP Rattati said… so we did… That’s several thousand people at the moment who are not playing EvE anymore and they don’t seem to be being replaced if the data I have access to is anything to go by. I’d like to see a graph showing the actual number of individual people with active accounts for the last few years, not the number of accounts… the number of PEOPLE. That could be interesting to look at because it effectively reduces multiboxers to individuals instead of their 20-40 accounts and gives you a clear picture of how the game is doing popularity wise. A game with 20 people with 100 accounts each is not doing well compared to a game with 2000 people with only one account each imho.

I really really don’t understand why CCP went through with the ‘character limit in a site’ after they got feedback that this was a bad idea.

I mean, if you want to have people in maximum 3 ships doing a site, make it so that it’s (near) impossible to finish the site when you have more than 3 people in the site, either from an overwhelming amount of NPCs (with no bounties or loot) when a fourth person warps in, or something more creative.

Adding a character limit just means people can stack 3 characters in a site and avoid all interference in a game that’s all about interfering with other players.

Player limits were a bad idea when that recent mining event happened and are a bad idea for these and any future sites.

Get rid of player limits!

I do, because instanced gameplay is the lazy designer’s approach to complexity.

Can we expect an evaluation after a month or two on how much money from the Reserve Banks went to hostiles and how much went to system ihub owners?

The ESS filter in the Agency should have the filter options for the quadrants. You should not have to sift through each quadrant’s regions individually to find a suitable target.

Considering that you can sell key for guaranteed 900 mil - 1 bil over risking doing heist and getting shy 1.2 bil with change. I suspect that not many people are doing this content. Unless you are farming keys and use them to clear ESS in friendly space.

In any other scenario it’s only marginally profitable.

Yeah, the content is a total failure. The 1B per key is just because nullblocs can riskless empty their own ESS. The design of the key sites makes it impossible to contest, and it’s best run with alts.

I do get a bit of hope from hoboleaks though, there are some new ewar SCC ships pending which may come along a lift of population cap.

Unless they “remove” population caps, nothing changes. You just bring more alts.
If they remove caps the sites aren’t worth running as “risk vs reward” is too far toward risk, moreso if they do add more SCC ships to increase difficulty.

the empires have agreed to an overall broker’s fee and market tax reduction for three months.

It’s been nearly 3 months (Oct 27 will be 3 months exactly). Should we expect the fees to be raised, or will the discount continue into the future?

I’ve really enjoyed the lowered fees making sell orders in stations competitive with structures and would like the current rates to continue.

Looks like I got my answer: Restructuring Taxes After Relief | EVE Online

At least this is going to keep USIA busy for those who want to reduce their fees via standings

The Grand Heist Tax Reduction was released on 27.07.2021 and said to be 3 months long. The Grand Heist - Now Live! | EVE Online

I made my plans accordingly and wanted to put up a lot of orders next Sunday which would have been the 24.10.2021 and should have compansated for 30/31 days months issues, to make sure I don’t miss the opportunity to get my stockpiles on the market while broker fee is still low.

You ended the event earlier than you said you would.
I haven’t put up my stockpiles at 0.5% broker fee and I will not be able to.
I trusted you. I feel betrayed now.

Why end the event prematurely? Why? :sob:
Y U LIE? :rage:
