Upcoming Sales Tax Changes for EVE Online Purchases in the USA & Canada

$40.70 happens to be the discounted alt (multi-account) price for a 3 month sub. So I’m going to wager that your most recent subscription for that account was for 3 months. And thus CCP is telling you what it will renew at if you stick with the 3 month sub.

:+1: I was thinking it had to be a multi-month, but it was too low for a 3-month sub. Multi-account discount makes perfect sense.

Nah, last purchase on that account was probably a 1 or 2 year Omega + MCTs. At least on NES. In any case, that would be a CCP Communication Team issue, for not giving any indication on what “package” I’m being billed for (in the warning email).

Edit: I’ve now cancelled the auto rebilling subscription on the website. It was indeed a 3 months package they were trying to bill me.

I want to pay in Zimbabwean dollar, is this possible? And of course, i’m paying the same amount. /s

Well states without sales tax will be happy  mine is about 9.25% so not to worried. Expected this to happen really.

This was a great way to remind me to cancel my other subs for this game. Thanks!

What is Eve Online technically categorized for taxing purposes?

Is there an international tax number assigned to Eve Online, that way each player can check their state or province tax codes and get the correct info?

The exact opposite. Currently 1 EUR = 1.13 USD. In other words 13% difference in pricing.

The difference in the USD vs CAD prices is around 4%.

Not only this, but also if you look over the the last 25 years, the conversion rate spiked at about 60%. Yet the exchange rate in asked price by CCP was always 1:1 DOLLAR in EUR.
So for 25 years Europe had to pay higher prices for EVE online if you went with CCP directly, which is of course then not a good idea. Unfortunately the reseller scene got very reduced in the last years. It was always a good way if you could pay in dollars and they also often gave you a discount on top.

1 CAD = .72 USD which is more than 4% fyi and twice that of EUR

CCP does not sell at a 1:1 ratio between CAD and USD.

Which is why we are talking about exchange rates…because a Canadian was complaining that they need to pay “more” even though it’s the same value once converted.

yeah, my last renewal a few days ago was about $70 CAD for 3 months for 1 account. They got one more renewal out of me as I need to move stuff before my accounts go alpha.

It was…something…eve, fly safe!
