Using macros for ratting - allowed?

It may not be visible to your naked eye but there are a huge difference when you count the milliseconds (ms) it takes to press all 4 buttons and sending the commands and receiving a reply from server.
For the sake of this argument, let’s say it takes you 10ms to hit all 4 (F1, F2, F3 and F4) buttons, and it only takes you 5ms to (just) hit the F1 button. so certainly you can agree that 10ms does not equal 5ms, so clearly the one using the macro will have an advantage over someone not using it.

This allows macro-users to play the game at an accelerated rate compared to the ordinary player.

I’m pretty sure that this was before you could group Guns and Missile Launchers. I will try dig up some info on when the Grouping of guns/launchers where implemented.

Apparently you failed to read the full post you quoted. Otherwise, you’d have seen the CCP say it was after weapon grouping existed. You know, the " (although this specific command is not as useful as it was before now that we have weapon grouping)." part.

All said and done, this convo is useless without a real CCP member chiming in. ISD’s are here to moderate forums, not dictate their interpretation of game rules.

EVE works off a tick system so it doesn’t matter. I can active all four modules within the same server tick with both methods.

Makavi has already set you straight on the timing but look at the EULA that was posted in 2010 compared to the one today. The number 3 rule under conduct hasn’t changed. It was OK in 2010, but now using the same wording as in 2018 it’s not OK?

I’ve found the article (Devblog?) about Weapon Grouping it’s from 23rd of October, 2008.

This is also confusing to me and in my lack of knowledge a assumed that what was prohibited is simulating input across multiple accounts not making game more fun and playable.

My use case was as follows it was 8 rep loki I put 4 reps in first 4 med slots and other 4 reps is first 4 low slots,
Than I proceeded and removed idiotic shift+ and ctrl+ shortcuts for those slots and make single 1-8 numpad keystrokes for mentioned slots.

From there choice was clear I could brake my fingers on either shift+ shortcuts smashing f1 thru f8 ,playing piano on my numpad OR I could use extra macro keys physically present on my keyboard, binding them further 1st physical macro key triggered 1st med+1st low slot,2nd next two and so on to a total of 4.

I basically simulated scimitar in order to play with enjoyment rather than pressing keys like madman.

How was that same as someone input broadcasting across 40 accounts farming day in and out in a same trashcan as dude repping other 8 dudes and not breaking his keyboard and like having fun is?

OK, but the post in 2010 said even through weapon grouping is a thing, binding the F keys is fine.

G15 “macros” which allow you to group different commands into one keypress are allowed. For example, setting your G1 key to press F1, F2, F3 and so on for you with one key press is allowed (although this specific command is not as useful as it was before now that we have weapon grouping).

Whether it’s useful to some or not doesn’t make it’s against the rules.

If you want up to date answers, make a support ticket and ask the GM’s.

Everyone I’ve talked to about this that has submitted a ticket said they received a reply back with a link to the EULA/TOS.

I’ll still give it a go.

Why bother with macros - go full bot. It’s not like CCP gives tree fiddy about the massive numbers of null-sec players and corporations running bot empires.
