Version 23.02 - Catalyst - General Feedback

Dev Blog “Standings and Awoxing Update” linked in the patch notes today but not accessible.

I have had numerous people tell me “Storylines don’t give derived losses anymore” and linked me the 23.02 dev blog, and on reading it it appears to me to say FW promotions and career agents don’t have derived losses anymore. You might want to have the comms team work on the dev blog again.

Using the example of storylines to explain what derived standing is unfortunately seems to have been a confusing choice that has added uncertainty to the topic.

Making it abundantly clear whether derived losses are also being removed from conventional storyline missions or not might be a good idea.

Who the hell is in charge of this last update? I mean honestly. There is so many decisions based on completely wrong assumptions.

If, however, you participate in Factional Warfare missions, you will lose standings with the enemy faction.

Really? Who would have thought the targets your killing suddenly start to hate you.

Getting promoted may also cost you standings, which can feel especially frustrating to those who didn’t want to get promoted, because it simply happens at certain standings thresholds without opting in. This can make promotion feel like a negative consequence, rather than a reward.

This is the most brain dead part of it all. Promotions are one of the few things in eve with tremendous benefits. NOBODY thinks getting promoted is a bad thing.

This doesn’t apply to characters inside a player corporation, however, who can actually fall to -10.0 standing with their faction and remain enlisted, as long as the average standings of the corporation within the faction remain above 0.0. This creates a loophole where a character inside a corporation - with enough positive characters to balance out their negative standings - can attack friendly militia characters indefinitely without ever being removed.

Another loophole that gets abused is creating brand new corporations and immediately joining Factional Warfare with them, populating them with -10.0 characters, then proceeding to awox for a week until the corp gets kicked out when the average standings catch up.

This is spot on, however you guys fail to mention the biggest loophole. The one that makes those above loopholes necessary. Fleets of 1 militia opening flying with opposing militia (usually alts) to kill off all ‘seagullers, or leachers’ (in reality anyone not in their corporation/fleet). If you fix those two loopholes above (without fixing the loophole of opposing militia alts in same plex), all you are going to see is a proliferation of opposing militia alts, because that is exactly what I will do to continue to grief my enemies. Since we already see this everywhere from the Chinese fleets.

This loophole requires us to awox any and all players in retaliation.

Since you guys CCP, removed the ability for us to wardec easily in FW (requiring a structure now) AWOXING of course has taken off. Back in my day (yeah long time ago i know), if we caught your corporation awoxing, guess what, we just wardec them. Saved us the standing on awoxing. And the militia sorted themselves out. If you brought back easy wardecs this stuff wouldnt be a problem.

I know in the past I would a strong supporter of these regulations, and I think it makes sense for the regular militias. However I dont think it makes any sense for the pirate militias. I’m a pirate? so -10 in eve speak, but i care about my ‘militia’??? not really if im -10. -10 Means i dont care who im attacking.

These changes are absolute trash. Obviously because they are against my very playstyle of being a real pirate (-10). One who awox’s anyone that isnt swearing oath to me. Honestly you should open free fire on pirate militias. And most of these problems will just sort themselves out. If you maintain these changes, I guess you guys will have to worry about the chinese paying your subscription because most of the pirates in the pirate militia will stop playing.

How can one turn off the background colored Description in the Charcter Info?

It was clean before, now i get flashbanged by a random color whenever i open it.
It’s quite offensive. The old one was pleasent and clean,

I had to remove my logo and make it all black, to make it almost clean, but of course the empty logo looks stupid now.
And everyone else is still a problem to look at.

I can’t find the option to turn that off.
If this isn’t optional, can you please make it optional?
Please help.

Edit:
Can you also please move the image of the character to the left, so it aligns with the ‘B’ of ‘Bio’, it looks weird being indented.

Hello CCP Team,

First of all, I would like to say that the Corporation Projects system is a very promising feature. It has the potential to significantly increase activity inside corporations and provide tools for organizing internal gameplay such as competitions, rankings, events, and cooperative goals.

However, after almost a year since its introduction, some of the most important limitations and pain points of the system still remain unresolved. Because of this, many corporations simply stopped using it, which is unfortunate considering how much potential it has.

I would like to respectfully suggest a few improvements that could make this system far more useful.

1. Visibility of member contributions

Currently it is not possible to see who contributed how much to a project.
Adding a visible contribution leaderboard would unlock many possibilities:\

  • internal corporation ranking
  • competitions and seasonal challenges
  • recognition of the most active members
  • better transparency for leadership

For example, corporations could easily organize things like:

  • mining competition
  • industry challenges
  • hauling races
  • seasonal activity rankings

Right now the system tracks progress, but does not allow corporations to celebrate or reward the individuals contributing the most, which is a huge missed opportunity for community engagement.

2. More flexible project item definitions

Another major limitation is the very strict item definition.

For example, if a corporation wants to create a Veldspar buyback project, it currently needs to create separate projects for each compressed variant or ore type.

It would be extremely helpful if projects could allow:

  • multiple item types in one project
  • grouping items by ore family or category
  • defining custom price values per item

For example:

Project: Veldspar Buyback
Accepted items:
Veldspar
Concentrated Veldspar
Dense Veldspar
Compressed versions of all of the above

Or even better:

Project: Mining Contribution
Accepted items:
any ore from a defined list
each with a specific contribution value.

This would greatly simplify project management and make the system far more practical for everyday corporation logistics.

Why this matters

Corporation Projects could become a powerful social and activity engine for corporations if expanded slightly:
activity tracking
contribution rankings
competitions
collaborative goals
corporation logistics

Right now many corporations feel that the system was introduced with great potential but then left unfinished.

It has now been almost a year, and unfortunately some of the biggest usability issues still remain. A few improvements like the ones above could revive interest in the system and turn it into something corporations actively rely on.

Thank you for your time and for continuing to develop EVE Online.

Best regards,
o7

Character portraits are automatically resized into the wrong shape when characters are in faction warfare.

We felt that SoCT were too dominant considering their cost and skill requirements. Bringing them down in dps output allows us more freedom to give them out for Capsuleer Day in future.

First SOCT nerf of hopefully many. But it’s already annoying to see that CCP will continue to handout these unbalanced ships.

Why do supercarriers now have smaller cargo bays than carriers? I’m all for the carrier cargo buff but can supers at least be on parity?

I welcome the death of the instant align Sunesis hauler.

Why does the capacitor warfare oriented Archon have the smallest cargo of all capitals after this rebalance? Smaller cargo bays for Amarr subcaps make sense because they use space-efficient crystal ammo, but Carriers do not do that. It is completely illogical to give the Archon of all capitals the smallest cargo hold.

EDIT: Why was this post hidden?

What kind OF BUTTHURT SNOWFLAKE you have to be to get offended by calling out the company that makes a video game we all pay for?

Whoever you are, you are truly something else.

WHY, in everything that is SANE, did you INCREASE waiting time for filaments???

Are you trying to create FARMVILLE?

Eve FARMVILLE?

will you introduce “TIMESAVERS”?

WHAT is the point of waiting half a minute MORE for NOTHING to happen?

In my 5 years I am doing Trig highway( probably more then 1000 jumps) I WAS SCANNED ONCE!

FOR WHO do you make this change?

Also, changing SOCT ships TO WORSE, so that “you can be better at giving them out to players”?

WHO WANTS YOUR ■■■■ SHIPS?

If they were SUCH A BAD THING( NOBODY COMPLAINED ABOUT THEM, NOT A SINGLE SANE PERSON HAD PROBLEMS WITH THEM) then how about REMOVING THEM COMPLETELY?

Instead you opted to ■■■■ in our faces, us few that actually play your fking trash game, and call it “great change”.

You are braindead.

Why did you touch the SOCT DPS ships? These ships are for beginners; they’re rarely used in fleets. Only in solo PvP and PvE.

@ccp In my opinion, having to scan drifters doesn’t change much.

Most blocs already have a system and people in place to scan these down.

What we need is fewer whs, or less in size. The problem is being able to move 150 plus through. Make people find content on their door step, stop absorbing everyone. Maybe, get a few to split off.

Pretty hard to split off or do your own thing when a wh can reverse everything you are doing.

NO, they are not for beginners. That’s the entire cancer with these ships. These ships are used by experienced players ONLY to have cheap, high tank, high gank, high versatility platforms. If they were for Newbs, they would be SP or time limited to NEWB times, not be accessible to old players.

As it stands, SOCT ships are a huge tumor in the game that supplants massive amounts of industry potential, resource use potential and the use of other ships which have drawbacks.

Obviously, CCP went the way of the stick again by nerfing the stats, instead of limiting the use duration of the ships. If only NEWBS could use these ships, they could be OP as hell for all I care. If you can only use them for 6 months after char creation or until you reach 7M SP (figures purely for illustration), they would be out of the hands of all old chars but newbs can be spoiled with them into believing that all ships are insane like these.

Ragebait but I’ll bite. All the SOCT ships had restrictions baked in from the start. Just off the top of my head, Praxis didn’t get the plate and shield BS bonus, has low standard resists. Gnosis has a weak cap, terrible shield regen and low standard resists. Sunesis has low CPU gimping any combat probe fits. They have scan bonuses but no analyzer bonus restricting explo use. Metamorph few mid slots meaning you have to choose between a prop mod and a cargo scanner or fit a bling integrated analyzer to make it work. All need rigs to be effective for any single use and then you’ve lost any flexibility as they aren’t T3Cs that can re-rig.

Sure there are some insane Gnosis PVP fits out there but use bling and bling abyssals to get around the limitations. Same could be done with other hulls and 5B of bling.

None of the SOCT ships were best at anything. The nerf bat wasn’t needed here.

This might be one of the worst patches I’ve ever seen from ccp yet. Do you want the game to just have 3 power blocks and all players sit in station spining ships avoiding pvp? You add new trig ships and then nerf the farm for components calling it “bug”? The ppl who farm this “bug” are less than 1% of highsec farmers tell me why you completely remove it but then buff farm for RMT multiboxers in pochven?? Mark my words they will come for wh space next

Highsec should not be a place where you can farm trig components.

Blops Changes

Nearly every section in the patch notes discusses the reasoning for the changes / the impetus for making them in the first place. All of the black ops changes include zero discussion, almost as if CCP were trying to sneak this in without people noticing.

Please share your reasoning for the Black Ops choices and how/why you could consider them anywhere near a good idea.

Oh man, did they finally nerf that infinite-respawn wormhole farming thing? That rules.
