What music are you listening today?

…and now, for something completely different…

American Breed - Bend me, shape me (1968)

Not exactly a first tier band, but it’s a catchy tune…

…catchy enough to be shamelessly stolen in Spain because, who would ever know?

Los Angeles - Dime, dime (1968)

Neither a first tier band, the lyrics are mostly different because the original ones probably wouldn’t have floated with censorship in Spain, and also “bend me, shape me” it’s quite difficult to translate into Spanish in any musically worthy way, thus the Spanish “version” refrain just asked “Tell me, tell me, tell me that you love me”. This copy sold well enough for a not-first-tier band, the kind you know of because at some point members from future first tier bands belonged to it.

I wondered, was this song for real, or was a parody? Turns out it was for real. 1985, WWE, Hulk Hogan and the such… The real American, fighting for the rights of every man (some exceptions may apply).

Isn’t it deliciously cheesy? Considered by many to be the second anthem at the time.
