10000 is such a smol number. 
But what is strange, there was more than 10000 replies. I suspect the limit was just introduced. 
After all, it is not infinite scrolling, we have just now BUSTED that myth.

I wonder why even introduce such limit. Was that because we really broke something? I did not seen anything suspicious. But then again, we have not seen it even with previous threads, It was just reported to us.

Lol, personal messaging. 
Since Oct’ 2016:
We currently have a massive perf problem with longer topics as we send down a list of all IDs of all replies in the topic, which can be enormous – if the topic is 50k replies long, it includes 50k ids in a list in every request.
We broke discourse. Its official!!!
