Bums too big
Late renaissance piece by John Dowland (whose application as a court lutist was turned down by the Elizabethan court), a contemporary of Shakespeare and Galilei. The song’s lyrics are attributed to the 2nd earl of Essex, and are in the format of a plea to the (virgin) queen by an exiled courtier. He did fall in and out of favor with her on occasion, and it all ended with his execution in 1601 for his role in a rebellion against her. Rich people’s problems, but fascinating that we can still read and learn about deep court intrigue and jostling for positions. Dowland himself became court lutist for James I, and concluded his career there.
No it isn’t.
I never said that it was. It’s just the song I was listening to
Well you can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink.
Incidentally she has a drink problem, can’t get enough.
