UO still is undead and PvErs still play it…
Maybe.
My daily routine in UO was like this at its peak.
My home base was a town called “Yew” which has a lot of forest around it. I’d lumberback trees for an hour or two. Bring them home (with a horse carrier), refine them into logs, make stuff. Sort them out. Put some on my vendor NPC at my house and teleport to Britain to meet up with my guild members.
We’d chit chat there for a while on top of bank. If someone wants to hit a dungeon and pvp, we did. And there were times someone had personal issues to sort out. We’d hit a game pub and would talk.
I’ve never thought of being a dancer in UO because of lack of physical macro but some people abused spell casting actions and used them to sort of dance naked in public places.
Man, I had a blast in UO.
Save Eve from what?
Ze Germans?
Sounds like an oxymoron.
Yes I waited 6 years to use that word.
Too late, Fräulein. Ze Germans are already hier.
Oxymoron? I do not think it means what you think it means…
Seriously, do you think EVE being in maintenance mode has anything to do with CCP not earning enough money from it? They announced at fanfest that 2016 was their most successful year in revenue.
I get it, they are a game company and they eventually need to focus on other products since EVE will probably not go strong forever. What I don’t get are stupid ideas like this and a community who still thinks throwing more $ at CCP for a a game which already has one of the highest subscription prices combined with massive “micro”-transactions is actually going to change something.
Oh, I do mean what it means.
Games actually cant live or die. They can be played or not.
Continuing on Ima Wreckyou’s points, if CCP shows a marked increase in the quality of their code, or they put in some wildly successful game feature, “earning more money” will automatically happen because of that. You didn’t suggest “higher quality expansions”, you just suggested “we should pay more for the same quality and bugs as before”, and no, I’d rather not do that.
Expansions like known from LotRO or other themepark MMOs are completely useless in Eve. They kind of work there because each expansions has a new area which is only accessible after reaching a certain evel and contains the most powerful loot. With Eve having a shrinking playerbase and these players having access to the entire universe it does not make sense at all. We have enough empty Systems, why spread out the players even further. Finally every capsuleer will have his/her very own System.
Personally I would not pay for additional empty space. The last Thing coming close to and Expansion in your sense of the word would be Thera. I never went there and I’m sure there isn’t much I missed.
@Nana Like ancient gods or viruses. Not alive, but they can “feel” alive. In gaming terms something that doesn’t get updates and has a tiny fraction of peak playerbase, doesn’t feel alive.
I know I would quit Eve if there were separate tiers and exclusive areas and gear that I would have to pay extra for on top of my sub.
That’s why I was so uninterested in WoW. There are up 4 expansions I think, costing 40$ a piece(unless your new and just get the new bundles).
If I wanted to rebuy the game every year or two and pay for subs, I’d get a Xbox or PlayStation.
There are no plans to ever start charging for expansions.
Its because CCP Falcon is probably the last one to know about any plans.
Cut the man some slack. He is doing his job and follows the orders of those who pay him. He’s also literally the meatshield who has to catch all the anger from the people, which isn’t really something that should happen in the first place:
Don’t be angry at the man who is being paid to takw the blame, be angry at those who make the decisions.
Don’t blame the messenger. Do you really think CCP_Falcon has any decision power? Those with decision powers pay no attention to the forum.
…lol
