Says me, it’s my opinion. I think there’s a high chance because losing a ship unexpectedly early on can have more of an impact than losing one later when you’re more settled. It also gives people a chance to see if they enjoy the game mechanically before they are thrown into a fight against their will. I don’t agree with your conclusion that removing ganking would ruin the game. To me it’s the opposite.
