Because all rigs used to be large and you could fit them on any ship. After they changed them, they just give the same stats as their ship class. So large rigs on a capital give the same as capital rigs.

You can’t fit large rigs on a Capital.

Now, that being said, I can’t expound on pre·existing ships that already had Large rigs fitted.

As it was me that sold them that, these types of ships are called Legacy ships, they are from a time in eve long gone now, and are more of a collectors item.
As stated they give the same bonus as its t2 capital counterparts, its just got a hell of a lot more swag points
