You can make all the changes you want to sknr tool

It wont fix the fact its a rip off monetization of a feature everyone has been asking for since launch and other games give you free.
Short fact is its a novelty. the price is insane for the content.
The system of producing and selling skins at that cost is totally missing the mark.

If you want to make it work. change it so the designer pays plex to design a skin. That skin is then added to their offerings. And can be brought any number of times for isk by every other player.

go for quantity of player transactions in isk. driving smaller number of plex transactions.

As it stand right now. most people will use it to design 1 or 2 skins for their favourite or most used ship then get sick of the insane cost. time and skills

Don’t like it, don’t use it.

I’m not.

Exactly - don’t use it.

  1. It’s never going to be free, so get that notion out of your head.
  2. It’s always going to cost PLEX to make, because player-designed SKINs compete with CCP for their SKIN offerings.
  3. It’s actually not that expensive. You don’t have to use every color or pattern slot.

CCP has never shown economic prowess…

…only naiveté.

@Rocket_Hellfire Do you ever have something positive to say?!

Really not sure what your point is… I mean, they’ve stayed in business for longer than most MMOs so they obviously know something.

I think they did about 10 yrs ago.

oh ccp and their evil overlords are very economically efficient and ruthless.
my point is that their upfront greed is preventing a good feature that is a core free feature in many many other contemporaries from being at least good and well used for no real reason.

They can still make bank but also make the feature way way way more used by simply cutting the greedy implimentation.

a 1 time plex payment per design created is better than a pay each time the design is effectively applied. The current element costs could also do with a 1/3rd reduction.

I actually agree. Creating any skin should have a small cost…and any larger cost should come if it is sold. That way people can make their own skins cheaply but not be able to have them on the market competing with CCP skins unless there was some greater cost.

On a much smaller scale than said MMOs, with an extremely niche customer base that stays around more for community and nostalgia, not the gameplay. But coolstorybro.

I was shelling over $100/mo with multiple accounts, depending on the playstyle I felt like that month (24 accounts in all as of today). When they raised the subscription to $20 for the first account, I let all of them lapse and only PLEX a single account now… and I can PLEX that account until the year 2100.

My point is that a simple idiotic move to grab $5 more per month cost them many many times more than that from me, and I know from many many more players other than myself.

That’s just one example for you of their lack of economic prowess.

I mean, sure - everyone hates price increases. Without access to any raw data though it’s hard to say how this impacted their bottom line, ie: did overall revenue increase even with a reduction in paying subscribers?

Oh, look, you just told us all what niche games are. Good on you for finally figuring out EvE is a niche game, bro.

Yep, and when you stopped doing whatever content you were botting, the prices went up enough that 50 people started doing the content to take your place. But coolstorybro.

You derived this from your one and only sample, you? Yeah, no one with an ounce of sense buys this BS. Might have had an impact when we first heard it 20 years ago, but history has proven the example you’re using as the case study is irrelevant, bro.

Oh, please give us the list of successful companies you’ve led in your career as a economic powerhouse. Obvisously you know so much about it that you must have at least one company that’s survived over 20 years, so what are they, bro?

The fact is that no one is using this as CCP wouldlike because its so badly implemented and such a rip off.
How do i know this? Because in the past 2 months I think I have seen 2 skins try and fail to be sold in alliance market place. I’ve argued for a long time CCP need to aim for quantity of sales over high ticket sales when it comes to skins. And this is just more proof.

The users want:
Linked skin catalog across accounts. So they can buy each skin once.
Cheap skin prices so they can build large collections and varieties to enjoy on multiple hulls.

To facilitate this CCP should change it so plex are used to create a skin “original” that skin can then be sold for isk to as many other players as a copy of the original artists work.
The current CCP skins in the shop should all be lowered in price too.

People hate having to buy the same thing multiple times or paying too much for something they can do or make themselves.

Still can’t make the Hello Kitty design but I can make the ship pink and white, so partial credit.

I do not see this as being a downside…

I was looking at my main’s skill point window and clicked on the skin skills… ALL those SKNR skills, and I laughed because I have literally zero desire to inject a single one.

Ok and? You had to make that known why?

Boredom apparently…
