1Bil Isk just for the Odysseus BPC, 1 run copy... are you READY?!

No, and unless someone has used some turbo-cerebral accellerators (like Benzie I guess bc he posted a 1500DPS Odysseus video already flying it)… There’s still minimum one - two week yet of training for EVERYBODY else interested in it, of SKILL TRAINING…
Doing market WARS (bc just call it for what it is…) NOW, it’s NUTS.
I’m overly calm, I just came back from a wrenching day of work, and this was the first thing I saw…
That’s my NATURAL reaction…

I want this because it’s beautiful, but it’s just not practical. There is absolutely nothing I could do with it that I can’t do with other ships that I have. This thing was built for low sec and was given a high sec price tag.

But then since people will gladly spend 9 billion and up on a Jump Freighter with a very small cargo hold and that can’t cloak, I suppose they’ll buy this ship for 4 billion

I’d also like to point out that the fit in that video with the 1500 DPS has a shield booster which people seem to hate these days

I have 8 Asteros for sell in Jita, maybe I could ship these to Langisi and ask
1Bil for each of them?? Whose ship company do you recommend??
I’m not in a hurry… If I can’t sell it for 1.5 Bil I’ll build it for myself…

I will at least have a shiny new ship for making some new videos on how NOT to fly it

Why are you asking me? I’ve never bought one of those. Though you could sell for a billion if you wanted. I wish you luck on finding someone dumb enough to make that purchase. I did recently buy a Stratios, but it’s certainly not worth a billion. It’s a cheap ship that does exploration well.

The new Brutix Navy Issue with those shields would be quite cool actually…
It might even get higher than 1500DPS… not sure about the drones…
it should have also 125 bandwidth for 5 large Ogres too…

It could have some issues encountering an Astarte in armor fit…
that’s for sure…

Odysseus has bonuses for all weapons kinds… and a lot of slots…
Armor fitted would be quite a sight.

That’s Gustav not Benzie. It was recorded on the test server because he is an eve partner and they are allowed to record before patches launch.

Why would you think a “Command” ship would be used solo? You literally have to be in a fleet to get the bonus.

That being sad, it’s slow AF to get into warp…

Fleet Bonuses apply to the whole fleet- even the command ship. This is true even if you’re not in a fleet. For example- I can log in solo with my Orca, not be in any fleet, and I still get the bonuses if I turn on my fleet boosts. I cannot take advantage of the mining boosts, but I can the shield boosts. Throw on two shield boosts with Extension and Harmonizing scripts and turn them on- major tank boosts! It’s a good trick to use when hauling ore to Jita and you run into trouble.

Are you saying not everyone has 3M+ spare unallocated SP from all the events where CCP hands out SP like candy for situations like these?

Anyone who can afford to fly the Odyssues at it’s inflated hype price can sit in it.

What do you mean with a ‘high sec price tag’? That it’s meant for newer players? I would think the opposite.

I think you haven’t yet figured out why people are willing to pay that much for a Jump Freighter.

Hint: it is it’s jump drive.

Shield boosters are fine!

Just don’t put one on a HS Avalanche fit.

I picked it up purely because the ship looks fantastic, not because the price tag meant anything. The real issue for me is how it muddies an otherwise very disciplined skill plan.

I’ve kept my training path extremely focused, which means no Amarr and no Gallente. Suddenly being pushed toward both, plus a brand-new “Expedition Command Ships” branch that exists solely for this hull, feels artificial. That skill line isn’t used for anything else in the game.

To even get to Expedition Command Ships Specialist, you’re looking at a bare minimum of 2,048,000 skillpoints. Then add another 512k just to unlock the basic Expedition Command Burst module. And let’s be honest… no self-respecting Immortal is going to fly around with a tech I burst, so the real cost is even higher.

At this point, it looks less like thoughtful design and more like CCP trying to sell extra skillpoints and PLEX, at least from my chair.

For context, we’re already seeing losses rack up. Thirteen have been destroyed by players and three by NPCs.

You chose to do that yet you act as if someone made the choice for you. There are a great number of ships in this game under a large number of factions. You chose to break your rule to fly a ship you found attractive. I see nothing wrong with your decision and it in no way muddied your focus since this was your decision.

What do you mean what do I mean?

You’ve been playing this game more than long enough to know exactly what I mean. People in HS spend more money on things they want because of Concord protection. Ships are smaller and cheaper in LS and NS because they’re seen as disposable. You knew that. Why did you even ask?

Do you intend to pretend that there’s another reason Ventures are used to huff gas?

Where exactly did I say I chose to fly it? I said I bought it because it looks cool. That’s it. I’m still deciding whether it’s worth derailing a clean, long-term skill plan just to sit in it someday.

(Yes, I can just inject SP, but that doesn’t change the point.)

You’re responding to a post that only exists in your imagination. Maybe check your targeting before you lock and fire next time.

Actually market warring right now is exactly the right thing to do. Just like it was with Babaroga and from my knowledge, with every other high-caliber new ship introduced into the game. Prices are elevated immediately after their release. As supply increases, the market will become much more stable. I understand you don’t like it, but industrialists and traders have field days with ships like this.

This stuff is all a big “who cares” imo. This game is ancient at this point, as is the bulk of its playerbase. Apart from the fact that a huge portion of people probably don’t even have skills left that they care about to train, the game hurls SP at you constantly these days. If a handful of impatient people can’t help but splash some cash to have it RIGHT NOW, I don’t care. Increased revenue for CCP that doesn’t come from my wallet is good, actually.

Again: So what? Ships are supposed to die. The cenotaph came out right around a year ago, was even more expensive than the Odysseus at release, and those also died. Ships are ammo, even the ones outside your budget.

This isn’t “market wars”, it’s just supply and demand. Pretty much the most basic, econ-101 presentation of it, at that.

If you wanted a price fixing cartel, you should have begun trying to organize one earlier than today.

You sound butthurt.

Ships die?!?

It’s on par with other battlecruisers.

Luckily reaching T2 bursts isn’t hard, only 512k SP. I did it to unlock the T2 bursts, because as you say no self-respecting Immortal is going to fly around with a tech I burst. Also they’re pretty useful on my exploration Proteus.

While my initial thought too was that these three new skills were ‘artificial’ for the new ship, at a second glance they seem very normal to how EVE has done things before:

  1. Expedition Command → regular T1 command burst skill, unlocks T2 at level 5. Equivalent to Mining Foreman.
  2. Expedition Command Specialist → regular command burst specialist skill, unlocks Mindlink implant at level 5. Equivalent to Mining Director
  3. Expedition Command Ships → exact copy of Industrial Command Ships, including requirement of Mining Director/Expedition Command Specialist 1. Unlocks new command ship tree.

When I realized that CCP wanted to add a new command ship for explorers just like we’ve got command ships for mining already, it made sense that the same skill structure is used.

The only difference is that we now unlock just 1 ship instead of both the Porpoise and Orca.

As far as I know some people in HS indeed bling their ships too much, but that’s expensive ship fits. The real expensive ships are flown outside HS. In HS you may fly an Orca, outside HS people can use Rorquals. In HS you may fly a Freighter, outside HS people prefer Jump Freighters. In HS people have Marauders as top-of-the-line PvE ship, outside HS people use those too, but also use faction dreadnoughts or supers. People outside HS fly Titans and Supers worth tens or hundreds of billions with their fits. Ships outside HS tend to be more expensive than someone’s overblinged HS Orca.

HS is a zone of limitations, limited engagement rules, limited ship choices, limited income, limited impact you can make on the game as group. An ideal place for new players to learn the basics.

So when you describe a new ship as having a “HS price” I think of a limited lower price, accessible for new players.

Kind of the opposite of what you wanted to say.

Of course I realize you said it, so I understood what you were trying to say even if the message was conflicting. But I wanted to point out that the message was conflicting.

HS is generally not the place where the most expensive ships fly.
