2025/6/27 -- releasing mining ships with upgraded capabilites

ISD SlartibartFast suggested me to post in here:

It would be nice to see some new designs in the mining ship category in the same way as recent new designs on freighters came out like the Avalanche (more slots for weapons etc..) to broaden the capabilities of mining ships.

And I wish for good weather and free beer.

Can you be a bit more specific? Like, bringing up actually some ideas?

  • What exactly should those ships do differently than existing ships?
  • How would they fit in th existing meta of mining ships? Will they be better? Will they require more skills? Will they be more expensive?

Maybe they will require good space weather effect and free beer for the crew to operate.

They need to be fully automated and run by AI.

Mining lasers get the rock then it’s automatically processed and compressed on board.

Automation moves on in the real world, why not the online one too?

We as pilots just need to move the ship to the belts and let it do its job

Just replace MTU and Salvage with Mining ship and ore.

Finally get a T2 Porpoise and Orca. or Skip to a T3 version when you can fit modules to make the ship better at certain things. Like drop the mining ability of the ship all together and give it better hauling potential with bigger ore bay so it acts more as a freighter with the ability to compress.

I dont mind the idea of a MTU that can also salvage but that would benefit mission runners more then miners. I might see like 5-6 rats, pretty sure mission runners get a few more then that.

A new mining ship for alpha accounts would be helpful. As the price of Plex goes up the venture doesn’t cut it anymore. Alpha accounts need something better.

And once all Alphas can mine more the supply increases thus ore prices go down resulting in having to grind as much if not more for PLEX.

I’ve been playing on and off since 2010 or something like that. Ore prices don’t really change much. I was playing when people preferred to work together and today we have every pirate and Indy player mining with 20+ account each. Prices are about the same for ore.

Tbh I can’t see a new alpha oriented mining ship Changing things more than the venture did or multi boxing.

What Alpha account needs PLEX for? The whole idea of Alpha is that one does not need to farm enough ISK to buy PLEX each month.

A lot of them. Some people can’t pay RL money for omega and some people don’t want to. Most Alpha accounts farm this or that to plex to omega. It’s not some strange concept and its not a small percent of alpha account.

idk man that is just blatantly wrong i’m 99.99% sure you knew it was wrong as you typed it.

Well, let’s put it into simple scheme:

  1. Alpha account farms for PLEX
  2. Alpha account buys PLEX and becomes Omega
  3. Omega account farms for PLEX

Now You should see it clearly that on stage 3 the account has Omega level to farm for next PLEX, do You? And on this level the account is not limited to Alpha skills and items, correct?

So, to have perma-Omega one needs to make enough ISK for next subscription in that 1 Month of Omega he has just bought.

Ok?

On the contrast: when an account is Alpha he has all the time to make ISK to buy Omega. There’s no restrictions on time at all.

It’s just You are looking to the situation from some funky angle. Or You are attempting to use “think of newbros” scheme for this. Not in this case though.

As somebody who has plexed 3 accounts for the last 4 odd years on empire mining it is certainly possible.

I enjoy mining and after i had my ships i really dont need the isk for anything after that so im asset rich, isk poor all the time. I used to enjoy manufacturing and built freighters and other capital ships but now its just too annoying to do so.

Having said that some new ships might be nice as per my suggestions above a T2 Orca/Porpoise would be cool or even T3 mining ships.

Yes. Glad you finally understand.

Very true but also untrue. Eve is loads of fun when you are new but after a while earning pennies gets really old. I’ve seen to many multy box chumps claim that eve would die if everybody didn’t run 20 accounts. (I really want to see the multy box chumps excuses for why they need 20 accounts if the game gets more players) Maybe instead of forcing “newbros” to farm for ages and quit the game out of boredom we could encourage them to play more. A lot of people like mining. I do think something between the venture and proc would be good as a stepping stone. I’ll never understand why miners try so hard to gate keep. just bump yourself up from 20 accounts to 25 if you cant handle ore prices going down 0.005.

Ah, I see: it’s not about need but simply about want. You want to be able to buy Omega while not spending much time and effort. And “new players” are just are cover for it.

And You are really confused because this is not possible.

Sorry bud but I am omega with all the indy skills any indy pilot could need. I also don’t care if I get omega with cash or plex. But yes it is a want. I want more people in this game. I want to work with more people. I want to talk to more people. I want to gank more people. I want more people.

I’m not so bad that I need to gate keep pixle minerals.

Anywho you have dragged this convo way way way off topic with ur “alpha bad” stuff.

The one who started with “alpha bad” was you though.

I think Alpha mining is good as it is. The Venture is a great agile and affordable ship that allows Alpha players to see if mining is something for them with little risk in any part of space.

“More yield” doesn’t help Alpha miners get a better feeling for the game or let more players become Omega, on the contrary it would reduce the incentive to become Omega for miners if they could mine nearly as well as Omega without paying.

Alpha is meant to allow players to experience most parts of the game, and Omega is supposed to be an attractive option for any playstyle, including mining.

All that “more better Alpha mining ships” does is reduce incentive for players to subscribe.

That.

Alphas that like the game but dislike the grind can simply pay CCP like 10 bucks a month. Easy peasy. And if you cannot afford that, you have other problems than premium accounts in video games. Maybe fix them first and come back later.

$10 your kidding right? its about $22.5 in my local currency most expensive MMO (which has a subscription model) ive played and i’ve played a few of them.

The other alternative is to expand the ships an Alpha can use, ie let them use barges but not exhumers.
